Jessica Mendoza

In her day might have been the most technically perfect hitter I've ever seen.

I didn't see last night's game but saw the Cubs/Dodgers game she did last month. Really bright, knowledgable, articulate.

PS. That game was Arrieta's no-hitter.  I've never seen so many major league hitters chasing sliders into the dirt, and he's still hot.

Should be fun but I actually have more admiration for what the Pirates have done with a pretty small payroll. So I guess I don't care who gets to beat the Cards. Lol.

Re: Jessica Mendoza

She was good.  And one heck of a hitter, as you say.  Women's softball as good a spectator sport as there is.

Looks like the Cubs are going to move on.. Nobody wants to go up against Joe Maddon in an elimination series.  Final 2 rounds with no Yankees and no Team Disney ( both accomplished) and no Cards would be nice.

Re: Jessica Mendoza

As you say, women's softball is a heckuva game.

As was men's although it is almost extinct. Knew a guy who barnstormed with Eddie Feigner for a couple years.  Said he was junior member so mostly had to drive so the other 3 guys could finish off a case on ther way to the next town.

Re: Jessica Mendoza

Men's fast pitch was huge around here until about 10 years ago. Gave it a try in my late teens/early 20s, as did most young small town fellows, but couldn't catch up with the best heat. Turned to umpiring for a good spell.  Great game.  Miss it.

Re: Jessica Mendoza

I never mastered the pitching motion.

A friend's daughter could turn pouind your hand into pulp as much as any baseball pitcher I ever caught.
