Jim Rogers on austerity

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-g_ZO_IlcFs    Jim Rogers...what can I say, that guy is the real deal!  And Lauren Lyster ...best legs in the news business!  Japan did not go through austerity and lost 2 decades.  The Scandinavian countries took their medicine and got their houses in order and have had a fantastic last 15 years, I can vouch for that...of course their North Sea oil helps.

Who knows? This is today,s lay of tthe land. http://m.startribune.com/opinion/?id=150689735&c=y. There are trillions on the books from the north on down to the south pole that ain't backed up by nothin' more than indiscernable instruments and the global economic system is going to have to figure and sort it alll out. I doubt that the old money isn't going to have to mske a contribution.

Re: Jim Rogers on austerity

No one wants to be faced with having to live within their means.  What Jim Rogers says about austerity isn`t some sort of dragconian chains around their necks. See, they would restructure their debts into something managable, people would have to buckle in and the holders of the debts would receive haircuts over the deal.  If the can is kicked down the road, what is going to happen?  Well, bankers are going to stop lending, the flow of money is going to come to a screeching halt and they will end up with austerity by default.  We see a mini version of this with what the unions did to GM.  GM was forced to concede to union`s demands back in the 70`s, with legacy costs of retired workers each GM worker cost the company "$120/hour".  Of course being just a company the sugar daddy government could bail them out, the "PIIGS" are too big for that.  Sarkozy was a poor choice to carry the fiscal responsibility mantle, the way he was living large with Carla Bruni.   That plus a good number of Le Pen supporters were to stubborn to support Sarkozy, well now they got socialism, I hope they`re happy.  Speaking of "happy", Happy Birthday Bruce and Go Twins!!  Smiley Happy

Re: Jim Rogers on austerity

Of course when Soros and Rogers parted ways, Soros became a centi-billionaire and Rogers became a centi-millionaire.

Which isn't to say that Soros opinion is 1000 times better but it is something to think about.
