Joe Biden
snip;
"Vice President Joe Biden told the graduating seniors of Cypress Bay High School in Florida today that they should imagine a world where hunger no longer exists because crops grow without the need of soil, water or fertilizer."
A crop grown without water or soil. Really? Does he really believe this? I know he says imagine but he also says, that day is not to far away.

Re: Joe Biden
We alreadygrow crops without soil. It's called hydroponics and it is a significant industry. There is a hydroponic vegitable grower right down the road from me. Of course, you do need water & nutrients.
Actually, the jest of the overall speech was very good didn't you think? I know you have to gripe about something because you are who you are, but that's OK.

Re: Joe Biden
That's the difference between you and the rest of these, uh, gentlemen on here from the right. You don't have the ability to think progressively and can't imagine things that don't exist right now. If everything had been left to thinkers like you guys, we would still be in the dark ages.

Re: Joe Biden
His whole speech is based on emotion. That is all liberalism is.

Re: Joe Biden
Fair amount of truth to that. Particularly as compared to absolutism and superstition.

Hey whoever you are. My name is Ben by the way, I was wondering if you thought this speech segment was based on emotion? You tell me, please:
"Today we explore technology that might someday conquer the remaining threats to our health and increase our longevity. While jet airliners carry passengers, even those of modest means, from coast to coast and overseas, our engineers are busy developing crafts that one day will take off from a runway and carry us into space, aerospace planes that will deliver us anywhere in the world in just a few hours' time. Discoveries in the field of superconductivity are coming so rapidly that research results are often out of date before they're in print. Scientists are bringing us to the day of pollution-free electric cars and magnetic trains that carry cargo and travelers at speeds of 300 or 400 miles per hour."
Thanks, I will await your answer. It sounds a lot like what Biden was saying.
Here's a little more if you are having trouble deciding:
"If there's any lesson now being learned, it is that there is a relationship between human freedom and the progress of man. The discrimination and prohibitions suffered by minorities in this country were undoubtedly some of the greatest impediments to the forward thrust of our nation. One need only look at the invaluable scientific contributions, especially in the area of agriculture, made by George Washington Carver, to wonder what more he might have accomplished had he not been overcoming prejudice as well as conducting scientific experiments. An American pioneer in heart surgery was Dr. Daniel Hale Williams, a black physician. Another black physician, Dr. Charles Drew, discovered a method of storing blood plasma. How many of our countrymen would have lived longer, more productive lives had these outstanding citizens been freer to reach their potential?"

Re: Joe Biden
So Biden plugs electric cars while his administration trys to destroy the coal industry that produces the electricity and then he goes on to call us racist. Quite the progressive.

Re: Joe Biden
3020 - I don't think coal was mentioned in that speech. It really was not political. It was an optimistic look forward for young people going forward. Are you against electric cars? Let's face it...you just hate Biden and pretty much everyone else that is not conservative and there was nothing really wrong with the speech other than who gave it. I think you are narrow minded to be against what was said here. You may have bones to pick with other things, however and I understand that. Let's not forget, you hate any lightbulb but the incandescent ones and have probably ever seen an LCD.

Re: Joe Biden
Electric cars are a great idea. The Epa is not. Of course he doesn't talk about coal, his administration has done all it can to shut the industry down. Coal will be needed to produce the electric to run those cars but Biden/Obama need to keep the environmentals happy while destroying high paying union jobs. The enviros win, the coal miners and electric cars loose. This administration stands up and tells us how great green energy is, yet their record does not prove this out..... Solyndra..... If Biden wants to further the cause of science he will rein in the biggest threat to science there is, the long arm of a progressive federal government. I have nothing against Biden, his policies are dismal. It is competition along with the chance of profits that will deliver a quality electric car at an affordable price. The government can not and will not.
I support the freedom to purchase any lightbulb anyone so chooses. You want to force high paid workers out of coal mines, take away their choice to purchase incandescent lightbulbs, accuse me of being stupid, and then say I am the one who hates?

Re: Joe Biden
First part, seemed like a prediction, of the possible future science may bring us.
Second paragraph, is emotional, in the 'imagine if only....hadn't happened' sort of way.
