Re: Stop being a **bleep** all the time
First, there are just as many left wingers here as there are right wingers...a very balanced state politically.
Second, I said nothing bad about Solar....I believe it has potential, but I don't see the advances we were led to beleive were just around the corner thirty years ago, thus I don't think we'll see much solar power as a percentage of total use in our lifetime.
I wish folks like you, Don, and johnaa were able to have a conversation about things around here without always having to act like the south end of a north bound horse.

Re: actually, they DID make the incandescent bulbs illegal
Actually, they didn't.
EISA 2007 set new performance requirements for certain common light bulbs, requiring that these bulbs become approximately 25-30% more efficient than the light bulbs of 2008 by 2012-2014. However, these new standards do not ban incandescent bulbs, merely raise the standards for these bulbs, which may naturally phase them out of the current market if they cannot meet the new standards. Overall, the intent of this is to bring into the market more efficient light bulbs. Some new incandescent products could be introduced by the effective dates of the law, including a bulb by General Electric that will decrease the amount of energy required. Non-incandescent bulbs, such as compact fluorescent (CFL) and light emitting diodes (LED) already meet the Tier I standards introduced.[7] Some companies are working to stop the sales of incandescent bulbs in anticipation of the standards changes. For example, the home decor and furniture company IKEA has phased out the stock and sale of incandescent bulbs at their stores in the US and Canada, starting in August 2011.[8]

Bye bye incandescent light bulbs and all of the private sector jobs they created. The federal government decided you can no longer purchase them because they don't meet THEIR standards. Same way they [the federal do gooders in the federal government] is going to eliminate coal and all of the high paying private sector jobs that go with it.

Re: Stop being a **bleep** all the time
Don't you be a bleep all the time. I never said you said anything bad other than you don't think it has gone far enough ahead as someone told you 30 years ago. I think it has gone very far ahead personally. they haven't gotten the price low enough yet but then geo isn't cheap either but it does have lots of promise especially in the colder states just as solar is very good here. The reason many of us act the way we do is because we are constantly on the defensive from the likes of some morons always telling us how stupid and misguided we are and how terrible democrats and liberals are. As long that atmosphere abounds on here, when you say something derogatory to me, about me or about my thinking on things, I will respond in like. That's a promise.
