Just checking in. Still no job.

I mentioned before that my son was out of work.  Well he still is out of work.  He is well rounded and not afraid to work, he has worked at WalMart and some other places far below his ability.  He has clean record and is good looking young man, well spoken and mannerly.  He has two BS degrees and an MS so that makes him undesirable for lower paying jobs and there doesn't seem to be any higher paying jobs in his fields, at least not in Silicon Valley.

I fear that with the economy in a nose dive he might never get job even close to his ability or field.  What a waste of time and money college was if my fears are true.  I feel especially bad because I convinced him from a child that education was important and the more you had the better your life would be.  The more you know and do the more you help your fellow man.

It makes me ill to see so many good people out of work.

Unfortunately, it will not get any better until we can get rid of the "president" and a huge majority of his national socialist party.

Newt Gingrich said just yesterday here in Iowa, that we are now finding ourselves in a shallow Depression that very well may get worse.

Driving over the bridge on the Raccoon River on 63rd Street near West Des Moines the other evening, I saw the campfires of the several homeless folks living on the banks in their new Obamaville quarters.

Re: Just checking in. Still no job.

A guy pulled into my yard a couple of years ago driving a truck to get a load of corn.  As we got to talking waiting for the auger to get him loaded, I found out that he had a doctorate in engineering.  I asked why he was driving a truck and found out that he was laid off from the oil field industry down in Texas when oil went from $150+ down to the low $30's.  He was just thankful to have found a job that would put food on the table for his family.  About a year ago, a hispanic man driving a truck pulled into the yard to get a load of corn.  He told me that he was on a two year work visa.  I asked what he did in Mexico and found out that he was a dentist.  He said he could make more money driving a truck in the states than practicing dental work in Mexico.

Unfortunately, colleges offer an education.  When someone signs up for classes, no where are they ever guaranteed a job once they complete a degree.  I do feel sorry for those graduating college and for all of those seeking jobs but not finding them.

This was put into play long before Obama.  In the past decade, the U.S. has lost 2.9 million manufacturing jobs.  Those same companies added 2.4 million manufacturing jobs overseas.  Again, this was long before Obama.

Couldn't find any figures to support this but I would guess that a very high % of degeed folks are working in something other than their chosen field.  All that really matters is that you have shown the intelligence and perseverance to master the courses required for your degree.  In virtually every job, you have to "learn" the job after you are hired.  Tell him to spread out and look for related fields and all together different fields.

It is a permanent encampment under the bridge and down the river.... not for recreation, but for existence under the circumstances that the obama regime has put onto the people of Amerika.

It is not too far from the main line of the Iowa Interstate Railroad.  Not too many campsites have tar paper and blue tarp shacks in them.  Here is a picture of one Obamaville:

I forgive you for the "idiot" comment..... it must be tough to be getting old and senile.   Eat another one of Caroline's raisin pies.... it might sweeten up your disposition.

Unfortunately, it will not get any better until we can get rid of the "president" and a huge majority of his national socialist party.  -  as per usual -  spreading the politics of fear.  There is nothing to indicate that exterminating the dems from the WH will solve the debt problem.  None of your guys want to take the reins until the recovery has commenced properly apart from the fact that most of the nominees probably would have degrees, etc, like Kurt's son.  Maybe they can car pool on there way to Walmart each day and take a lesser job like the truck drivers mentioned above.  Why is it that young people today want to start on $1000 per week because they frigged their way through college.  Like you said in an earlier post, they think society owes them something.  Like bloody hell we do.

Re: It's called

In all seriousness, I thought that the bush tax cuts(loopholes) were put in place to create jobs. that was well before president obama. i'm sure that the benfits of this will "kick in" soon and someone can take credit for it. right? by the way, that problem at the iowa state fair that you mentioned was really under reported by the desmoines media.  I had forgotten about last years "beat whitey night". I'll be watching to see if it shows up. didn't the officer that talked on camera get demoted or reprimanded after the incident? I'm trying to remember.....
