Re: Just for the record

Cap and trade is already off the table. Quit making stuff up.

I've got to see a GOP majority strengthen food safety regulations. That would be quite a sight...unless of course the GOP newbies are old Nixon like Republicans on domestic policy, but I don't think very many of them even bother going to the precinct caucuses anymore, much less run for anything.

I'd in a perverse sort of way I'd like to see the GOP in control of the House and get Rep. Ryan to be be encouraged and have  to run his "roadmap" that heads eternal deficits to the stratosphere up the flag pole, out in the light of day in front of the people who will be looking for answers from them.

Most of these issues that are driving the baggers and seeming to be attracting large numbers of independents and even some frustrated Democrats won't ever be on the table in D.C.. Wouldn't get there if the GOP wins both houses, which they maybe will. They'll be required to draft legislation that will get past a Democratic filibuster in the Senate and then be seen by The President as worthy of signing. But then, we actually might get more decent legislation that way then we are now with the Boehner led "just say no" tactic.

But don't think for a moment that a handful of Beck and Limbaugh and Palin led extremists picking up 5 or 6% of the seats in The House are going to actually be let in on legislating by their country club member peers. Thiose people work, along with a whole bunch of Democrats, for  the banks, for defense contractors, for big pharma, big food etc etc..

Support for these baggers that have won primaires might be a little fragile come Novmeber and it gets down tothe cuttin'. They appealed to true believers who saw them as "like us" instead of "like them", but I'm not so sure that there aren't a bunch of them that will be very difficult for many traditonal  Republicans to ultimately vote for.

Re: Just for the record

LOL, how's that go...........same as the old boss........won't get fooled again? The only thing that could make her more entertaining is if she slobbered when she spoke.

There are three times more kids in the IL. public schools than there are residents of Alaska. They live off of the federal government's money, and 65% of the land is owned by the BLM, the remaining is owned by the state, and there is only 1% of that remainder that is privately owned, and the citizens of that state receive royalty checks after one year of residency. It's no wonder it's a republican leaning state.

But, look at what Palin did for her hometown. She put them into a big debt while enriching herself and her family personally, but how and why did she need to borrow money? Then, as Governor, she begged for MORE federal money, along with supporting the "bridge to nowhere". Then she used the power of her office for a personal vendetta against her brother-in-law. That would be normal behavior of a politico for a town with a population of 500 or less, not a Governor.

The only things that she's proven time and again, is that she's a moron, she'll do and/or say anything for a buck, and that her uterus works pretty good.

And you think that she's your savior. If you are banking on her for your last and only hope, it's no wonder that the republican party is in shambles now.

Re: Just for the record

Tool bag you seem to like 60's music how about these refrains "tax the rich to feed the poor until there are no rich no more", and "population keeps on breeding, nation bleeding" .   Palin is only short term project to energize the conservatives, will disappear after the 2012 election and will never be the presidential candidate.  You and your left leaning socialist brethren don't like her, but who cares?  Not a chance you would vote conservative anyway.

Re: Just for the record

If I use your right wing extremist mentality, she must be a socialist then, because that debt I was referring to was for a community center.

So, where are the rational thinking and creative republicans, are they hiding in the shadows to jump out and proclaim they are here to save the day sometime in the future? Or, are you part of the following of the current "blind leading the blind" mass, that jumps on the catch-phrase and hysteria of the week, because you think that it might win you a few seats in Congress, only to revert back to the same old economic strategy?

I'd vote conservative if they weren't constantly displaying the behavior and mentality of rain-maker salesmen during the dust-bowl era.

Re: Just for the record

Hey Bruce, actually I said "regulations like  cap and trade". Here`s a link that says`Without cap and trade the energy bill has a better chance of overcoming  G.O.P.   opposition`!!!

http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Politics/2010/0727/Stripped-down-energy-bill-leaves-out-cap-and-trade

Sooooo, if Obama and the Dems had their way, we`d have it!  Just research the crap the Obama appointed and funded EPA has coming down the pipe and see things as they are. Actually what do you and Tom have against the Tea Party? To be honest I don`t know alot about them. It seems they may keep the GOP in line fiscally when they regain power. Is it maybe you guy`s hatered of Palin and Beck? At any rate, how you guys can keep defending Obama (Mr $1.3 trillion deficts as far as the eye can see Obama) is beyond me. Cash for clunkers...epic failure! waste of money we ain`t got! Obamacare ....another entitlement we can not afford, we just can`t afford this crap. It seems to me the longer we kick this can of debt down the road the tougher things will be to deal with.

Re: Just for the record

"Is it maybe you guy`s hatered of Palin and Beck?" One is a politician, the other is a TV/radio personality with formadible self-interest. Palin I can accept as a politician. Beck - take away his profits in what he says/does and he would shut up like a clam on the beach.

Re: Just for the record

I`ve only heard Beck`s radio show a couple times and I thought he was talking to himself, here he had been talking to a guy named Stew. Glen and Stew sound too much a like, I couldn`t stand much of it. We don`t have cable so I`ve only seen him on You Tube. I probably do agree with alot of what he says. Would he be that good of "actor" to put on shows disingenuously?  I hear you guys run him down all the time, can he what he says be proven wrong?

Re: Just for the record

Pardon for the untimely reply.  'Tis the season for collage football and it is much more riveting than ultimately pointless political banter.  R3020 pretty much answers the Messiah issue.   Since committed to supporting anyone but Obama I have  exhausted little effort in exploring the alternatives.  Whom ever become the Republican candidate gets my vote; e.g., if in the most unlikely circumstances that the Judas Colin Powell is still a Republican and even more unlikely becomes the nominee, I could even hold my nose and vote for him.  I believe for the party to be successful they need to search for a centralist candidate that Palin can endorse to get the more conservative vote and still draw the necessary independent white votes to get elected.  Spend a few nickels and give the necessary lip service to the black voters, but they are going to vote for their "home boy"  and Republicans couldn't offer enough more "pork" to entice them to change without losing the conservative base.  The few blacks that worked hard to be successful and see that future threatened by Obama's free-for-all spending will continue to vote conservative.  The Obama administration has made every effort to make the new Arizona law a wedge issue and no doubt many Hispanics have swallowed the bait.  Consequently  it is again going to be tough to garner these votes.  So unless the surveys show a positive response, just try and neutralize the Democrat attack and hope most Hispanics become disinterested and therefore don't vote.  Eventually the best approach I believe is to further foster distrust between the two minorities and use this as a vehicle  to capture the Hispanic vote.  If the Democrats can unite these two factions then the future isn't very rosy for the Republican party.

See another swipe was make at Palin.  I've seen/heard the reproductive organ slur before so apparently being original isn't a quality he embraces.  Anybody that is in the same arena as Pelosi, the flamer Barney Frank and Mr. Vice President "Bite Me"  (a retread but I like it) certainly shouldn't be throwing stones.  I usually avoid the useless political scathings because nobody is going to change sides nor opinion on this site so it becomes useless and mostly negative verbiage.  However I found the reference to "don't get fooled again" interesting because a much better fit would be to apply it to Obama voters that have become dissatisfied.    Suspect his 60's experience is limited to a few of the more widely played hits.  In-its-self not a major issue, but interesting that he would use that phrase and attempt to be witty.   But I've seen it gives him another entry and he scored in Kudos race.  Question:  Does your attending "crew" bother to read liberal postings, or to save time do you just automatically hit the Kudos button?  Can't believe some of the garbage that receives Kudos's
