Re: Just for the record

After a week of this exchange there was not one proposal to trim existing spending anywhere. The only thing remotely close was a suggest to kill Obamacare as if that would save americans anything.

Given that solution, we would not save american taxpayers by killing Obama care. American taxpayers will still pay the total cost of health care, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY. as they have been for decades.  That is not a proposal that will offer any advantage to tax payers period! You know what life is like without health insurance reform. You are now living it.

I though maybe you conservative philosophers could at least come up with one significant approach that would trim the deficit in the slightest. NOt so. Just a shotgun approach to cut spending without making a commitment to any specific cuts. What programs will the new right cut and will they camapaign on real issues instead of generalities.

Alas I think you offer nothing but platitudes and fancy speech. The other guys arebad but we will do much better< but we are keeping it a secret until after the elections. Matter of fact I don't think you know what you want other than to beat the other guys.

Re: Just for the record

To tell the truth I`m not 100% sure Republicans will be alot better.....but anything to save our necks from the guillotine. Republicans are the ONLY game in town, the way the Dems are spending the whole country will be Kaput shortly after Obama`s term, if we don`t change course soon!!! The only reason Bush added to the debt was because of 9/11 and foolishly apeasing the Democrats with unaffordable social spending. If we are allowed to get REAL Republicans in things WILL get better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  In closing...14 million illegal Mexicans and 14 million under and unemployed Americans, it doesn`t take a rocket scientist to connect the dots on that one!

Re: Just for the record

I have said so many times I am blue in the face. Cut spending by at least 10 percent. You always come back with that can't be done. Be honest, you don't want spending to be cut all you want is taxes raised. Raising taxes will not cut the debt. Only spending cuts will do that. And you know it.

Ah! There's the Iraq War again:

"The debt was because of 9-11"

Re: Just for the record

Regardless of whose abacus one uses the Iraq war was between $700 and 900 billion (with a "B"), less than $1trillion. With the nat debt being $12 or so trillion, the war itself wasn`t the big problem. It was Bush trying to by the Democrat`s Love by okey dokeying all that run away social spending. The Democrats were more than happy to support the Iraq war after receiving all  the "pork" they could bring home. When you look at how the stock market drop destroyed "paper millionaire" fourtunes, there`s the real cost of 9/11. The loss of six figure jobs that was a hit to the tax base.

Re: So BA

You say the Iraq war 'only' cost 7-9 B$ but then you go on to say "It was Bush trying to by the Democrat`s Love by okey dokeying all that run away social spending. The Democrats were more than happy to support the Iraq war after receiving all  the "pork" they could bring home"

Where I come from we would put that down as a cost of the war, the bribe money to get the support to go on that illegal war.

Re: Just for the record

Holy smokes man. Ok....again....take every line item buget cut it 10 percent. Every line. You can't tell me the budget can not be cut by that amount.

Is that clear enough for you?

Re: So BA

Hey Canuck, I never was a big fan of the Iraq war, but I understand why politicans were for it, it`d be unpatriotic to be against extracting "our" pound of flesh. What surprised me was the war had years of media support, usually the media hates wars. One thing about how Bush handled things, it ended further 9/11 type attacks. We just never recovered from 9/11, it shook business to the bone. With the debt our nation was/is carrying, we depend on growth to sustain it. That`s why when 10 years ago my friend Rush would say "Deficts don`t matter, we`ll grow our way out!".....Yes, but what if we get the hiccups? And Osama bin Obama gave us a cluster of hiccups.

Re: Interesting

in farmer lingo.

Seed corn minus 10%. Fertilizer minus 10%. Chemicals minus 10%. Cash rent minus 10 %. Crop insurance minus 10%, Fuel minus 10%. Interest minus 10% drying minus 10%, storage minus 10%. Family living minus 10% recreation minus 10 % health insurance - 10% doctor bills  minus 10% repairs minus 10% real estate taxes minus 10%, income taxes minus `10%.

Such simplistic solutions to complex problems. I wonder why I never thought of that.
