I hardly think that my life has been one of privilege as I've worked since I was a little kid. Walking in sweltering heat in muddy fields pulling weeds, shoveling oats in July in a tin bin that was hot as an oven, piling hay in the haymow in July & August, pitch forking manure onto an manure spreader throughout the year, ringing 400 pound sows, castrating pigs, shoving a hose down a cow to release the bloat, cleaning out the waterer in January, shoveling snow out of the feed troughs in winter, grinding corn all year (colder than heck in winter and hotter than heck in summer), laying out in the middle of a corn field in November fixing under a corn picker and later years under a combine.
Digging out tile by hand to fix a blowout, dealing with bankers during the 80's, not having enough money to go to McDonald's because we were paying property taxes for the city folks new school, health insurance that factory workers, government employee's and office workers got as part of their job tax free and trying to pay for a farm while raising a family.
How any liberal can say trying to hang onto what I've earned while others sat on their behinds is selfish has to be either ignorance or criminal intent to enslave. It's sometimes portrayed that the poor are poor because they didn't have a chance, that's saying that America doesn't give you a chance and it's false. Opportunities abound but they come at a price, work, dedication and deferred gratification.
