Just so you know, who and what has started this nightmare

Then add in the NRA and their guns for everybody and you have the real answer!

Who started this? Man. What has started this nightmare? Living in a world of sin and death. How do we fix it? Love your fellow man as a brother or sister and don't allow a culture of violence to exist past the battlefield. Events like this creates division, division lets the evil one win, we fall for it every time!

If we want to get a better handle on this problem we as parents need to take violent video games off the store shelves, stop fighting amongst each other in front of our children and lead by example.

Well Said.
It all starts at home. I would add that limiting or removing devices from our children’s (and ours, perhaps) lives may encourage better relationships.

Re: Just so you know, who and what has started this nightmare

Well Black sand, I was raised playing cowboys and indians. No electronic games we played in 'real life' with cap guns too.

Blaming it on games is a cop out.

There were bad people before and bad things happened to people 'back then' too.

One difference is military guns were not available and single shot rifles were the limit.

You can blame anything you like but the fact is people killing guns are too available today and that is the reason so many die.

Then there is  the societal thing where some societies seem to attract things like mass shootings while others do not.

Why is that? I do not think it is from electronic games or family breakdown.

One thing does seem to follow violence is societies that have more religion.

Re: Religion is the reason?

(One thing does seem to follow violence is societies that have more religion.)

I keep hearing that our society as a whole and including the USA is becoming less religious and less Christian every year, the number of people whom believe in God has dropped sharply in the past few decades - yet school shooting's have increased sharply in the same time period!

Please explain again how religion is the problem?

Re: Just so you know, who and what has started this nightmare

Blaming a tool made of steel and plastic for the murder of human beings is pretty dumb if you think about it. The weapon is the man! Young people today grow up in a society that allows them to act out violence on the computer or television screen in graphic detail that "looks" cool. Add in the fact that families are more broken than ever before and you have a recipe for violence.

Re: Just so you know, who and what has started this nightmare

It is the availability to that toll that is designed to kill many people quickly that is the problem.

And you do not need to tell me that there are more broken families now than there were in the past.

In many cases now those families are better than in the past when many were forced to stay together when they should have been separated.

There are many issues and one is the acceptance of a society of machines designed with no purpose except to kill other humans and the acceptance of those as somehow patriotic instead of a tool that has no reason to be in a persons possession unless they are going out to kill other people and the only time that might be acceptable is in war situations.

We slaughter 10s of 1,000s of babies everyday. Life is cheap. This kid knew it and acted accordingly.

Re: Just so you know, who and what has started this nightmare

The 1927 Bath, Michigan school bombing killed 45 people including 38 students. They found over 500 lbs of TNT in the school that didn’t detonate. Could have been much worse. He had rigged his home with explosives and a truck that he detonated to kill himself and first responders. Evil is omnipresent and the tools it uses to inflict damage are limitless. We are lazy. We seek to eliminate a tool instead of seeking to eliminate the evil.
