Did you mean:

Ken Langone

Making the rounds to promote his biography/homage to capitalism. He sounds like a genuinely nice fellow, giving abundant credit to the many who helped him become a billionaire.

Still, not much to say about the thousands of small hardware and lumber stores left behind and the pitiful state of Home Depot workers.

We are a nation of temporarily embarrassed millionaires.

Re: Ken Langone

Trump's mall developer friends aside (and WS sharks like Langone), online and big box retail aren't going away.

Which makes a $15/hr minimum wage and universal healthcare and laws protecting workers' rights logical and essential.*

Across the board the companies would just raise prices to maintain profit levels. It is effectively a regressive tax, which you'd think would be welcome from the right.

I doubt that I'd miss 1-3% from my budget and there would be benefits such as pushing a lot of people off public assistance, raising SS and medicare tax receipts significantly, etc.

*would, probably, act as euthanasia for a lot of the living dead of the old economy- retail and such. Although would also increase opportunity for new independent businesses by taking away a bit of the low wage advantage that their competitors have.

you'll feel good, but still buy your junk from china where they have none of those nice things.

Re: meh

And in America we won't call the perpetual economic oligarchy "royalty".

They're just people who ('s grandparents)  just pulled harder on their own bootstraps.

Actually more similar to the British peerage than you'd suppose- some ancestor was a minor warlord who bet right on which side to throw in with.

Many low born folks just love it.

speaking of China

what do you think about our hereditary reality tv prince taking a $500M bribe from them?

Once you're in you're in, I guess.

This is interesting

hadn't heard anything about the orange goblin's latest escapade so I had to go searching.  Its a twisted path it is.

5 days ago this was in the national review:

The Chinese government is extending a $500 million loan to a state-owned construction company to build an Indonesian theme park that will feature a Trump-branded golf course and hotels.

A subsidiary of Chinese state-owned construction firm Metallurgical Corporation of China (MCC) signed a deal last week with the Indonesian firm MNC Land to build an “integrated lifestyle resort,” as part of Beijing’s global influence-expanding “Belt and Road” infrastructure initiative.

The project will include a number of Trump-branded hotels, a golf course, and a residence. While the $500 million loan will not be directly allocated to any of the Trump-branded features, Beijing’s contribution of half the project’s total operating budget ensures the success of the broader theme-park venture. Though negotiations began prior to Trump’s election and his pledge to cease engaging in new business dealings with foreign governments, the project raises questions about the extent to which the Trump organization is dependent on Beijing amid contentious trade negotiations with the U.S.

Then 3 days ago in Reuters:  Indonesian business tycoon Hary Tanoesoedibjo confirmed on Wednesday his company had chosen a subsidiary of a Chinese state-owned construction firm to build a theme park at a luxury resort in West Java, but said he had not signed any loan deal with China for the project.

But look what the your mentor krugy is telling the revolutionaries:

Did the president of the United States just betray the nation’s security in return for a bribe from the Chinese government?

Don’t say that this suggestion is ridiculous: Given everything we know about Donald Trump, it’s well within the bounds of possibility, even plausibility.

Don’t say there’s no proof: We’re not talking about a court of law

LMAO, no proof necessary.  More stories of the outrage as you travel around, tpm, daily kos, all of the great informers of the intellegensia.  Loan that may not have even happened that did not involve Trump, morphs into a suit case stuffed with cash dropped at the white house door.

The more likely story behind the ZTE thing is Trump kissing bottom in exchange for China leaning on the Norks.  But that doesn't sell with the trumpophobics.

If the Founding Fathers

needed an illustration for the Emoluments Clause this would serve perfectly. Quite enough to impeach on its own.

Fortunately it was just a mild suggestion that was attached to the Real Constitution- the (misinterpreted) 2nd Amendment.
