Lincoln was part way right, I guess

“Our progress in degeneracy appears to me pretty rapid. As a nation we began by declaring ‘all men are created equal.’ When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read ‘all men are created equal, except [Black people], & foreigners, & Catholics.’”

How do progressives reconcile Lincoln wanting to send Black Americans back to Africa and what he said about them?

Re: Lincoln was a man of ...

Lincoln was a man of his time, just like George Washinton was.  Washington owned slaves, didn't see anything wrong with it, Lincoln clearly understood the injustice and evil in slavery but understood that it would be hard for the country to move past it.  That was progress.  Now we're 150 years later and you're still stuck back in 1865, other people have moved on but you clearly haven't.

Lincoln's not the problem, you are.

If you were actually interested- which you aren't- some of Lincoln's meanderings in the debates with Douglas were nothing shy of rhetorical brilliance. He'd draw him him by agreeing with the popular notions of the day, then nail him.

No, you wish to continue to associate with the modern day senile joe led kkk?

Seems pretty simple to me.

Re: Lincoln was a man of ...

I would disagree about George Washington and his view about Black Americans. Washington had trusted soldiers that were Black and respected them, and also put into motion the means to free his slave holdings after his death, to the disgust of his inlaws.

Washington would have promoted qualified Blacks today, and shipped the liberals out. Not much doubt about that one.
