Lizz

snip-

I just can’t shake the ridiculous image of you, Liz — a blue-eyed blonde almost as pasty white as me — letting yourself be described as a minority professor, a Native American, for years.

You’ve played the Indian card. You’ve grabbed for minority cred without enduring the minority grief. It’s poached diversity. It’s glommed onto, what, five generations removed, assuming there were some facts way, way back when, as your campaign aides claimed last night.

How long before wise guys in feathered headdresses start dancing around parking lots at your events? Somebody told me yesterday your campaign needs to lie low and “circle the wagons.” Whoops. That same someone quickly realized it was the pioneers who circled the wagons when your Cherokee ancestors were blazing across the prairie on the warpath.

Here’s the problem for you, Liz: We’re not talking some elaborate, arcane, confusing financial irregularity here that nobody can understand. Everybody gets this. It’s letting everyone think you’re something that you’re not. It’s letting stand the idea that you’re part of an aggrieved class of people. It’s a sin of omission, which is not as bad as a sin of commission — like, you know, the typical political ploy of pumping up resumes with fake claims of combat heroism and purple hearts. But it’s a huge problem nonetheless.

Re: Lizz

Maybe I'll send liz another c-note!

Re: Lizz

It's fairly well accepted that people with Native American blood like to track it and wear it proudly.  I've know many.  Again, they wear it proudly.

Being from Scots-Iriosh stock out of Oklahoma it would be almost impossible for her to NOT be a Native hybrid. That phenomena is what stocked and made Oklahoma. There are most likely very few Oklahomans from that tree who aren't.

What triggered this winger eagan's gripe in one of tne most consistently and rigidly politically slanted daily papers on the North American Continent, the Boston Herald??  Was there some "call out" that wasn't heeded?

Good for Liz.  And Don, keep it flowing.

Good idea, she has proven she doesn't think she can do things on her own. She needs special consideration.

Nothing wrong with being proud of her heritage. She used it to get special considerations.

Re: Lizz

30. I can't find what "special consideration" she got in the artcle. What did she do? Tap into some casino funds? Did she get into college on affirmative action?

She listed herself as a native American.

Re: Lizz

Where?  On Facebook?  I did some googlin' and saw that her employer had listed her as part Native American.  Nothing about her having done so.

Good to see that you are so in tune to the sensitivities of our aboriginal Brothers and Sisters.  I'd come to take you as a rather cold man.  Encouraging.

Other thing I did find up by google is that a geneological searsh did uncover that she is part Cherokee.

Brown is running hard with this from what I read.  Must have one hell of a team of advisors.

Yeah, 1/32. Guess she is what you call a white Indian. Well, it got her through law school and got her a job. Looked good on the records, helped with their minority quota.
