The thing about Holtz, Notre Dame (where the elite spend $70K/yr to send their kids) or the Federalist judges is that they come out of the Catholic elite and predator priests aren't going to mess with their kids- they look for the vulnerable ones and those whose families don't have as much clout.
Thus it is easy to ignore a millennia and a half old systemic problem that has run smack into modern sensibilities.
That institution has less than zero moral authority to tell us what to think about human sexuality. But that is now primarily just a wedge issue that's been weaponized in service of a broader agenda.
BTW, if you read Paul's letters- where a lot of the theological objections come from, the central theme is Jew and Greek. Greeks were welcomed as equals under Jesus but the common practice of Greek men having a slave boytoy was viewed as anathema to Jews. Correctly, we'd say, although mostly in terms of the horribly exploitative nature of it.
