Maine says no to wind power
Not where we have to see or hear them.
Maine’s governor has signed a bill that bars any new offshore wind projects in waters under state jurisdiction, about a week after the state legislature approved the legislation.
The bill, which became effective immediately because it was introduced as an emergency measure, says that offshore wind power projects “may provide significant economic and environmental benefits to the State by generating renewable energy” but that siting them in Maine’s waters “may adversely affect resources, including scenic and aesthetic resources, and recreational and economic uses, including commercial fishing.”

How is that 5 alarm newsworthy?
Had it gone the other way is most definitely would be.
It never seems to take much, or take long for you to forward fodder.

Not seeing the 5 alarm part however he's just pointing out another hypocrat liberal elitist.
(Maine says no to wind power)
Put em in Kansas, we need to bring energy here so that we can finally get us some copiers so we can take the horse and buggy team into town and vote.

Re: Maine says no to wind power
I rather doubt that the folks who own family compounds on the coast are Dems.
The interesting thing is managing to co-opt those pore fishermen.
Sorta like the pore farmers, coal miners etc.
I’d a billion times rather have an offshore wind farm than an oil field.

Re: Maine says no to wind power
Sorta the point. Maine isn’t Kansas.
I think that over time the most unsettling, but sadly reflective of the times thing about this site is how it celebrates civic and historical ignorance,.
My guess would be that Dagwud and even MSB would have understood Granite State political traditions.
It’s becoming harder to sort the “owning” from the “just knowing”.

Re: Maine says no to wind power
Initially it was to be a ten year moratorium, but fishing industry successfully lobbied for a permanent ban. Ban covers state waters which extend 3 miles.
The bill also gave the OK for long term wind research at a site about 30 miles offshore.
Maine already has some very small wind farms in operation. All have been controversial to some degree.

Re: Maine says no to wind power
That’s not nearly as sensational as saying “There are some liberals in New England and look at this!!!”.
Although there could be room for a good discussion on the matter of the various forms and species of “conservatives” not being near as obstructive and.foot dragging on sorely needed progressive policies as are retirement fund and old money baby boomer “liberals”. Incredibly dependable. And generally worthless. Proven so by the Presidential Candidate they gave us in 2016. An organism without a single progressive cell in her body.
They (we) are dying off at the same rate as the cons are. I’ve got a sneaky suspicion as to which way the gr.kids will roll.
That being on the horizon and how desperately, in their m8nds, it needs to be stymied probably explains as well as anything the predominance of Reagan/Pat Robertson teens in MAGA world.

Re: Maine says no to wind power
You're proof man made global warming is not a crisis. It's all political. Dems want wind power when they don't have to look at it. Can't have it messing up their beaches since it will do nothing to lower sea levels. Hypocrats.
