Re: Maine says no to wind power
Western Kansas certainly isn't a mecca for tourists. At least with the windmills you have something to look at between Salina and Colby on your way to Denver.

I'm not convinced that it is a large threat to fisheries. Even offshore drilling isn't except for...er.....the spills.
But God made farmers just for practice and then he made fishermen. Lobstermen being the ultimate works.

Exactly. Scenic views are more important than stopping man made global warming. The biggest threat to man kind. Something that will bring an end to civilization is less then 6-8 years. Hypocrats.

Re: Up to 3 miles only, ....
Up to 3 miles only, that seems like a reasonable compromise. Maine's economy depends on tourism so why risk that? It's just 3 miles when offshore wind farms want to be out 15 miles anyway. Besides, it gets really foggy there, who wants to run their lobster boat into a tower anyways.
Sounds like they're being practical.

Re: Up to 3 miles only, ....
Just as some people who have experienced or witnessed, or …GASP…even studied up on something there is a recognition factor that kicks in.
As someone said about Molly Irvin’s “hearing jackboots around the corner” someone might also be able to spot a Carpetbagger, having read a description.
The proposal might even have been totally unserious… RW learners knowing that they could get starry eyed half informed Greenies rilled up. It’s an art form.
