Re: Manchin
When pressured by a reporter Manchin would not say he wanted the Dems to maintain control of the house and senate this fall. Humm Think he is going to jump ship when the red wave hits?

Re: Manchin
Someone set me straight that spends more time looking at bills and votes than I do. Mankato Free Press, like Bruce here, had an editorial that blasted Republicans for voting against a $28 Billion dollar bill to give health benefits to a targeted group of about 12000 Middle eastern veterans. This works out to $2 million each, right? If their lives and health WERE destroyed by toxic burn pit exposure, probably seems fair.
OK, now we go to FOX news reports of Republican votes going to vote down a $300 Billion dollar pork laden bill, that included Veteran benefits for burn pit victims.
What gives here? Who is lying?

Re: Manchin
R,
You have stumbled onto a time honored Washington, DC legislative gambit. The late New York Senator Daniel P. Moynihan (D) once dismissively called it, Boob Bait for the Bubbas. You just gotta love Pat Moynihan’s use of alliteration to make his point.
So here’s how it works. Congress writes a bill entitled, The defense of motherhood, apple pie, little puppy dogs, and baby elephants act. Usually around 5% of the multi-billion dollar bill is allocated to anything or anyone actually mentioned in the bill’s title. The remaining 95% of the government largess is then cleverly redirected to bi-partisan Washington DC’s donor/lobbyist class. If you cannot take care of your own friends using other people’s money, what then is the purpose of politics?
The beauty of the Boob Bait for the Bubba’s gambit is that if anyone ever dares to criticize, much less vote against the bill, then they are immediately attacked by all in the MSM, Silicon Valley, Hollywood, and the deep state for their personal hatred of motherhood, apple pie, little puppy dogs, and/or even baby elephants.
And the people just love it. Best of all, it keeps most folks from asking too many questions about their rising prices of gas, food, and grocery bills as violent crime in their local neighborhoods soar, our southern border collapses, and our State Department, Pentagon, & CIA continue to diddle with Eastern European affairs that may or may not result in a nuclear WW III with Russia.
But ain’t that America?
