"I'm not saying we need to be in Afghanistan forever, but I am saying, did any of you throw your rank on the table and say, ‘Hey, it’s a bad idea to evacuate Bagram Airfield, a strategic airbase, before we evacuate everyone’? Did anyone do that? And when you didn’t think to do that, did anyone raise their hand and say, ‘We completely messed this up’?"]

Well that's a rather accurate assessment.

Just to let civilian AG readers understand the magnitude of Lt. Col Scheller's intentional sacrifice for speaking out. Imagine a man who knowingly burns a $5 million winning lottery ticket on principle alone. That is what this officer has lost from his once guaranteed lifetime of military retirement.

God's speed Lt. Col. Scheller and Semper Fidelis! Some men are courageous in war when options are limited. Other's are even more courageous in peace when the option to remain silent or just go along to get along is always in play.
