Medicare dollars "hard" at work
Hey Bart, found a rat hole. Here is your government entrusted with your tax dollars "hard" at work. No room for cuts. This is the future under single payer. Most of our health care tax dollars will be lost to fraud and waste. Uncle Joe gets a free pump but grandma is to old for to get her rotator cuff repaired and so all she gets is a pill.
snip-
Taxpayers paid nearly $175 million for vacuum erection systems (VES), commonly known as “**bleep** pumps,” from 2006 to 2011, according to an inspector general report released on Monday.
The federal government paid more than double the retail price for VES, the Department of Health and Human Services IG found. Medicare prices for the systems, the report said, “remain grossly excessive compared with the amounts that non-Medicare payers pay.”
Medicare paid 473,620 VES claims during calendar years 2006 through 2011, according to the IG report.
Health care policy experts said the revelations in the IG report are a troubling indication of what they describe as wasteful spending in federal health programs.
“The fact that taxpayers have spent more than a quarter of a billion dollars over the past decade on **bleep** pumps via Medicare is obscene and insulting – even more so when you consider that this is an arena of Medicare expenditures rife with fraud and where the government doesn’t even bother to assess medical necessity,” said Ben Domenech, a senior fellow at the Heartland Institute.
“This is a perfect example of what happens when government becomes the be all and end all of human existence – a system where everyone has a right to a taxpayer-funded **bleep** pump.”

I suppose if your church taught you their is something unhealth or unnecessary about sex, you might be inclined to think as you do.. Most people thaing the sex is anormal part of life and is beneficial to human beings. The fact that that part of the anatomy is disfunctioning might make one conclude that returning that member to functioning might have some value.
Of course ifyou are an **bleep** retentive christian, you might think it a waste of money, much like throwing the fiver in the offering tray and expecting eternal life.

Re: Medicare dollars "hard" at work
I don't have a problem with men being fitted with **** pumps if they have to have one to perform. The problem I have is the root of the problem with government spending. They are paying twice the retail price! Why is that not a problem for you?
I asked a doctor friend a year ago why he was trying to buy a pawn shop. He told me that Obamacare was really going to take a bite out of his income. He said that even though he didn't see many Medicare/Medicaid patients, it was those two government entities repayment rates that private insurance companies follow so his income went down when Medicare/Medicaid reimburse went down. I have no problem with the reduction in repayment but I think it's ridiculous that they got so high in the first place. Government does a very poor job of taking care of our money. The bureaucrats who actually run things up there and set the rates live in some sort of fantasy land.

You are making it your business. You seem to have a contorted view that anything you think is not worth doing is not worth doing. You P and moan more than anyone on here because nothing is quite right with the world if it don't share the viewpoint of Saint 3020.
I don't give a crap what you beleive or don't beleive, but don't think we are obligated to share it.

Why do you believe everything a govt agency says when it is detrimental to something you don't like but doubt everything else the govt says?? Can you honestly answer that?
Read the article. Absorb what it says about the waste. That is other people's money and there is a finite supply.
