Monarchy solution for Sam

Bahran protesters are now calling for the downfall of their Monarch not just changes.

Sam I thought you would go for this.

That is what happens to any Monarch who tries to actually make the decisions and would happen to our Queen or King if they were anything more than a symbolic head of government.

Thousands of Bahrainis called for the downfall of their ruling monarch on Friday, one day after a brutal attack by the kingdom's military that killed at least five pro-reform protesters and injured hundreds more.

The cries against King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and his inner circle reflect an escalation in the demands by the protesters, who earlier in the week had called on the Sunni monarchy to weaken its hold on top government posts and address claims of discrimination against the Shia majority.

Don't you agree that the theory that a person should rule over others as a birthright is repugnant?

Re: Monarchy solution for Sam

No, not the way our Queen 'rules over us'.

Unlike some presidents she did not drag us into illegal wars.

I guess that should't surprise me. There were slaves in the old south whose owners treated them well enough that they did not want freedom. In fact their lives were probably worse when freedom came.

Thought you might like to know others are happy to be Canadian too

Canuck heartthrob Justin Bieber has told Rolling Stone magazine that he'll never become a U.S. citizen, because he cherishes Canada's health-care system.

"You guys are evil," he laughingly told the magazine in a cover story that hits stands Friday.

"Canada's the best country in the world. We go to the doctor and we don't need to worry about paying him, but here, your whole life, you're broke because of medical bills.

"My bodyguard's baby was premature, and now he has to pay for it. In Canada, if your baby's premature, he stays in the hospital as long as he needs to, and then you go home."
