More Bernie
Now that his candidacy seems to be getting some real interest, was pondering the implications.
Kasich said that if he's nominated the GOP will win 50 states. Could be, I wouldn't put too much credence in any polls at this point including the ones that show otherwise. Maybe the US isn't ready for a Jewish Democratic Socialist- it certainly wasn't ready for a biracial moderate neocon/neolib.
But the great thing about Bernie is that he would face the bitterest opposition imaginable from all of the most powerful and corrosive lobbies in the US. Just for starters, the Israel Lobby, Pharma, Health Insurance, Oil, Banking and Wall Street, probably gunz although not until the general- a republican will have to outflank him on the right on that even if Hillary is taking him from the left for the primary.
So what's not to love about that throw down? If the money boyz provoke the volk enough to get a huge turnout and there's a republican supermajority, all of the above mentioned interests will merrily get on with their best efforts to destroy the US.
And the cry come 2020, right on cue, will be "Bernie Was Right."

Re: More Bernie
And come 2020, there will be some 12 million new potential voters who will lean toward disapproval of the state of the world their parents and grandparents have left them.
And 10 million leaning in the opposite direction will have shuffled off this mortal coil.

Re: More Bernie
As far as my earlier concerns that a GOP supermajority will act to permanently enfranchise minority rule.
Well, what can be done can be undone, it is just a question of having to do it the easy way or the hard way.

Re: More Bernie
If you could take a candidate with Donald Trump`s immigration and trade policies and couple them with Bernie Sanders` breaking up the big banks, you`d have about a perfect candidate. However on just about everything else Bernie is off the rails...we couldn`t afford his spending and taxes.
Yes, I think on the bank issue by 2020 or even 2017 as rapidly as events are escalating, you will be able to crow "Bernie was right!" ...however the caveat is he`s flat out so wrong on everything else, the inflicted heartattack he would cause the country is far more serious than the slow drip cancer that`s killing us.

Re: More Bernie
I'd agree that almost any legislative agenda is fraught with peril in the near term.
That's equally true of the status quo but that is many times safer politically. It is like healthcare where championing a horrible system that was accidentally in place is a lot safer than replacing it with an arguably more or less horrible one.
As far as your economic assertions, no point in arguing, it is like theology.
And ever since Obama caused the crash and did the bailouts.......you know.

Re: More Bernie
Bernie is the RIGHT man at the RIGHT time. He needs to talk like Trump .." I will save you so much money, it will be incredible, you will love me more than you do already "
Since your bubble consists of like minded folks, I fear the heart attack will be yours come Nov.
See a Dr now.
OR, consider doing the right thing and switching parties. Your family and your country deserves at least that much from you.
Feeling the BERN is more than just a slogan

okay...george w bush caused the 2008 near total meltdown, it was all goerge w bush`s fault. voters in 2008 voted for "change" well they chose unwisely, the can merely was kicked down the road, to use a clique from 2008. they didn`t get fiscal reform, bernanke saved the day with zero% rates...hey 2 dudes can now get married!

If you study the life and works of Vladimir Lennin and that of the goals of Bernie Sanders, you would find, with the exception of 100 years separating them, eerily similar patterns in regard to political planning. Lennin was, however, a Bolshevik and Sanders is more of a Menshevik, their views on Democrat Socialism are inseparable. Read this wiki about Vladimir Lennin to see what I mean.

History tries very very hard to repeat past events in 100 year cycles.
