Surprise! This was totally unexpected!
Authorities have identified a 19-year-old black man as a suspect in a Mother's Day parade shooting in New Orleans that left 19 people injured. Police Superintendent Ronal Serpas said they are looking for Akein Scott, whom multiple people identified as the shooter.

No, I said that White murderers are rare and are over-represented in the media. Black murderers are common and ignored by the media. A Black 19 year old male in New Orleans shoots 19 people with a handgun. Initially (when it was presumed to be "terrorism", or maybe an act of White racism) it got a LOT of press. Where is that press now that they have identified the shooter as Black? Nineteen victims including two children and nary a word. That is the point I'm trying to make.
The all-time best example of this "effect" (whatever you care to call it) was the beltway snipers (October 2002). Initially, the talking heads were describing the shooter as "a loner -- a White man in his 40's, driving a white van" (essentially describing "Buffalo Bill" from Silence of the Lambs). Every news agency in the country was non-stop reporting on the beltway snipers, do you recall this event? Then the snipers did something they hadn't done before. One of their victims lay dead at the far end of a parking lot. They watched and waited, then when it appeared that nobody had noticed and the path seemed clear, they decided to drive up there and rob the victim. They took the victim's wallet -- cash and credit cards. They quickly spent the cash, but then decided to use the credit cards at various merchants, including a Walmart store (where every card transaction is highly photographed by hidden cameras). It was then discovered that the snipers were two Black men! Almost instantly across the nation, all reporting on this case ceased. A few weeks later, the suspects were apprehended and the event completely forgotten. Even tho the snipers were executed by lethal injection, this story received no coverage at all. To this day, most people I talk to do not realize that the beltway snipers were Black. I will bet that even YOU did not know they were Black, until you read these words, now nearly eleven years after the fact!
49 black-on-White murders the national media ignored
While the national media obsesses over rare White-on-black murders, it ignores the ongoing epidemic of black-on-White homicides.
