That post has GOT to be a joke.

In terms of the punishment the law doles out, yes.
It is illegal to speed, and it is illegal to burn down someone's house. The punishments are not equal.
In terms of whether or not it is wrong, not so much. Wrong is wrong.

What are you talking about Bart? Just who is putting kids at such terrible risk? Much of what I see kids doing on farms is picking up rocks and baling hay. Done both jobs many times and never saw anyone get hurt nor saw any kids being placed in a dangerous situation. Most farmers I know have good common sense and don't put others in danger. Yes there are some dangerous jobs on a farm that you should not put a 14 or 15 yr. old in charge of but this new law simply goes to far.
I'm betting a teenage boy stands a far better chance getting hurt at football practice or riding his snow or skate board then he does helping out on a farm.

AHHH, but you didn't say THAT! Illegal is illegal but the punishment for different things that are illegal are different.

And they also die playing football.

I guess the answer is to make them sit at home and be totally dependent on government.

Of course they do. Also driving, swimming, overeating and numerous activites. HOWEVER COMMA they aren't being paid and in the employment of someone trying to get cheap labor. As I said, if you want to allow your kids to do it, no problem. You can pay them under the table or compensate them in other ways. You don't seem to have a problem with a little while cheating or doing illegal things. No problem.

Re: Obama administration to protect kids from working.
I don't know much about the law. For the most part, it really doesn't concern me because I typically don't hire anyone under 21 because I only hire harvest help. However, I do have a question that may or may not concern me. Every year, the local FFA chapter has what they call a slave auction. People like me go and bid on kids to work for the day. The money doesn't go to the individual. It goes to their local chapter which helps them pay to go to contests and such. Typically, I try to "purchase" two kids to help me work calves in the spring. Would this new law affect my ability to do this?
