Re: Obama care IS government care.

It's hard to believe, in this day in age, there are people that haven't managed to keep up with the rest of the world. He obviously lives in a very remote place in the world, either that, or he is one of the many who have been completely "dummied down" by Faux News. His thinking is neither rational, or intelligent.

"Businesses should not be making such personal decisions for their workers."

But, government can and will under Obamacare. You are fine with that?

Yes he does have a big screen but he is rather conservative. He has some upper teenagers that have a habit of sports injuries, motorcycle accidents and the like.

PS. He had to take a serious pay cut a couple of years ago. He works for AA.

Canuck, they can go to the emergency room any time they want and they can not be turned away. No one in the US is denied health care. The question we are debating is who and how to pay for it.

r3020 see if you can find numbers but a health care worker in a hospital once told me it cost 3-4 times as much to see a patient in an emergency room than it does in a doctors office.

Coverage for everyone, full coverage, might be a lot cheaper than emergency room care.

Keep the illness simple rather than always treating the emergency.

Re: Obama care IS government care.

Obama care allows you to buy the insurance you want or can afford. Corporate insurance providers decide what policy they will offer and what kind of coverage you get.

Medicare is government financed health insurance and I can thnk of none better. I've had private insurance coverage at over $1600 per month and it is no better than medicare. Plus medicare will accept me if I am old sick fat or diabetic.

Tell me any private insurer that can or will compete with that?

Re: Obama care IS government care.

And what has the private insurance industry done to lower costs of health care? Their only solution is higher premiums and reduced coverage.

What has the "private" fertilizer industry done to reduce the price of fertilizer.  Do you want the government in charge of that too???  Where does it stop?  If my relatives wanted socialized government (controling everything) they should have stayed in Europe.

Re: Obama care IS government care.

Are you the descendant or relative of very recent immigrants? Like since the 1960s?

My relatives who came from across the sea came form England in the 1670's, Germany in the very early 1800's and Sweden in the 1870's. They  came to work and run businesses. There was no socialism at that time in any of those countries that caused them to leave. There was monarchy and/or feudalism, and all public policy run by the golden rule..."He who has the gold, RULES".

The only people who got medical care at those various times they were leaving, such as it was with the advance of medical research etc., were those who could pay cash for it...the very well to do. The very same  sort of system that we are headed for today without very serious reform, which has been attempted.....though modestly and crudely. And up against very powerful interests who, although the shingle above their doors says that they are a part of the medicine business have no interest in the universal distribution of it.

So, like, did your parents come from France or Norway in the 1960s or 70s or something like that? They had forms of socialized medicine by then, as access to health care had been seen to be of primary importance in the rebuilding of those nation's economies and business climates coming out of World War 2. And now we are fixing to, by the full stated intentions of right winged boniness and political interests to restore the U.S. to the midwifery that those places that my "relatives" came from way back in the day had.

Bruce, whether you know it or not, those 2 sentences are the the 2 most powerful statements, about where our country is headed! These folks who cower and kneel before the Republicans, really surprise me, because the Republicans have no use for YOU other than to enable them to get where they can rule you. Another good quote, Bruce, "He who has the gold, RULES". Pay attention, you serfs of the Republican party, YOU WILL NOT BE INVITED!

KUDOS, BRUCE.
