Obama to EU: We will do our part
snip-
While Obama did not say what kind of assistance the U.S. would be willing to provide, earlier today the White House ruled out any financial contributions from U.S. taxpayers. “We do not in any way believe that additional resources are required from the United States or from American taxpayers,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters.
Hey Jay, does that include the IMF?

Re: Obama to EU: We will do our part
Wow good for you Obama, we simply don't have the money. I wonder if he will feel that way after he is re-elected. He unfortunately is unbeatable so strap on for another four years. I will say that he and his wife really seem to love there kids I really respect that about them. He could be a good example to black families that struggle to keep a good family unit, I wonder why they dont try to point that out more. This guy reminds me of Carter so much good man, bad pres. Just my two cents

Re: Obama to EU: We will do our part
I heard a commentater on one of the news talk shows and he says it would be foolhardy for the US to ignore the european crisis. Yes direct monetary involvement because if the euro financial system goes down we are doomed to follow along because there is so much entertwining of the US and Euro banking system. Evidently we already have a one world banking connection and no one is immune from a financial catastrophe.
Notmy words but His. I wish I could remember the name.

Re: Obama to EU: We will do our part
Nice sentiments, but why just an example for black families? The minority families around here tend to do more good old fashioned family togehtrness activity stuff than the lower class caucasians do. They are much more likely to let kids pretty much raise themselves once they can run the doorknob.
This rapid falling out of the middle class that is taking place is going to get us alot of hybrid white trash that most folks aren't expecting. Young people with a crude sense of entitlement carried over from the status their extended families used to have,. Quite recentl, actually.

Re: Obama to EU: We will do our part
When I was in school, I had a teacher talk about MAD, or Mutually Assured Destruction. This was essentially Reagan's plan to prevent an attack from the Communist Bloc. NATO, or the US in particular, had to be able to assure their complete destruction, if they were to ever attack us. The fear of being wiped out caused them to never escalate things to a full-scale war. This same theory was believed to be applied by the other side, as well.
He then talked about 'economic MAD', in which many countries would be dependant on other countries for some need or another. He theorized that many seeking a 'one world government', so to speak, were trying to get everybody's economies so intertwined that no one would 'take out' another, becuase they depended on the other for some sort of necessity. For example, the US exports food, and imports oil and goods. China exports manufactured goods, but can't feed itself, and the circle continues all around the world.
I think because of this we really CAN'T just let europe collapse, but on the other hand, we can't afford to prop it up, either. Whoever figures how to fix this with the least amount of pain is one person who will truly earn their paycheck.

Re: Obama to EU: We will do our part
If he or she were to....that is were to convince those necessary to do what "needed to be done" he or she would then face a relatively small minority of people around the world who would represent primary industrial interests, old financial fortunes, Austrian economics, extremist right wing religious elements and decicated academic figures from the schools of Milton Freidman, Ayn Rand and Frederick von Hayek.
Making a terrible amount of noise for as few as they actually would be. And the results of what ever it was that :"needed to be done" having been done would be irrelevant.
But the biggest problem of all would be that the effort that "fixed" things would go unrecognized by everybody else. Nobody would give out an medals. pundits woud say tsk, tsk and too bad that such radical measures had to be undertaken. blah, blah, blah....And the people of Europe and the people here will just take it as a signal to over consume and waste and not support planning for anything.
That the God that nox referred to will continue to "provide". But that doesn't e help me, as mine's the same as Red's.

Re: Obama to EU: We will do our part
Actually didn't mean to infer that He will provide, per se.
More a matter of just keeping the curtain up on the show of his ultimate creation's penchant for good and evil.
Until the time for the establishment of his kingdom on earth. Which the Koch Bros., or whomever, might in their own way be or use in bringing about.

Re: Obama to EU: We will do our part
I reminded of the farmer and the pastor.
Pastor "You and the lord have produced a fine looking crop this year."
Farmer " you should have seen it last year when the Lord was doing it all by himself'
Don The Lord will provide all though he seems to be selective in who he provides for. That is why he needs that fat guy that asks us to donate generously to feed that starving kid on the other side of the world. You know the kid that always has flies on his face and ribs sticking out. Maybe if he gave the kid some of what he is eating they would both be in better shape

But then you would not have the chance to help the poor.
