What could the rank and file Catholic do about that, Hobby?  I mean there was a abuse case over here and a abuse case over there but not in every Church or even more than a few Churches.  Members in the vast unaffected churches could only conclude that those cases were handled appropriately.  Handled the wrong way and the Catholic church would`ve been broken...the whole Catholic institution over just a few bad apples.  See, in my world those bad apples would`ve been executed never to sin again and serve as a example to other communist, homosexual infiltrator.  This was all spelled out in the 50`s by a FBI agent that went undercover in the communist party and one of the goals was to destroy the churches.  It was all spelled out in the book "The Naked Communist".  The Lutheran church has also been under attack, I can personally show you one of the member churchs that closed it`s doors over this red herring  ELCA issue.  We are under attack buddy boy, it`s time you choose sides.
