Re: How arrogant of the right

So you are saying that on a normal office visit that the dr bills at $120 and medicare pays $80 that the dr then has a second set of "normal" office vist billing that he gives to cash and private insurance folks???  Is that what you are saying??  Because that is what you typed---"...the cost is shifted to those with private insurance and those paying with money out of their own pocket."

That is true Bart. If you do not have insurance you pay a higher rate than if you do. The insurance company will negotiate the bill down because the doctor wants their business. If you have no insurance they will not lower their bill. Well, sometimes they will give a 10% discount for cash.

And you too.  You are saying it is ok for the dr and the private insurance companies to work out a deal but Medicare's deal with the Drs is bad.  You both should be very ashamed but I know you don't give a shiit and are quite proud of your stance on seniors and others.

Re: How arrogant of the right

That is correct and the rates will have to go down because of the added bodies to the fold and you won't have to keep biitching and moaning about taxpayer money going to pay ER costs for those free loading welfare people who go to the ER for everything.

The rates should all be the same no matter who is the patient, their age, or who is paying the bill.

Re: How arrogant of the right

As far as I know they are.  You guys are the ones claiming otherwise.  My Dr. charges everyone who comes in for a normal office visit--that is to say, not a first time new patient and not an extended exam--the same $120.  Some don't have insurance and they pay the $120 in cash or he may extend them time payments.  Then the rest pay a co-pay or not according to what their insurance is.  You people are the ones claiming that the Drs charge the difference more for the cash and private insurance folks to make up for the Medicare folks.  You have not a clue as to what you are talking about.  If your Dr. does that, you should get a new Dr!!

It's not only doctors, hospitals are the same way.

Re: How arrogant of the right

So, if he charges me on Medicare $120 and accepts $80, then you walk, he charges you $160??  You pay cash so he knocks off 5-10% right?  You are either lieing or are pretty stupid for paying more than his normal charge.

Re: How arrogant of the right

You are truly ignorant of the way it is done.  If I walk into a Dr. or a hospital and another guy walks in at the same time and we have the exact same ailment and he gets charged $120 but only pays the Dr. $80 and the Dr charges me $160, I'm calling a lawyer!!  You're nuts!!
