One Term President?

What's your odds on no matter who wins being a one-term president?  I'm inclined to think that could be the case.

Trump is unlikely to win, but if he does his persona so far inclines one to think he will make such an ass of himself that he'll be thrown out on his ear after 4 years.

Clinton seems likely to win, perhaps in a landslide, but not likely with a mandate.  She'll preside over a country that stays as fractured as it is now.  The first fight will be over the Supreme Court.  Other fights will be over Obamacare, Defense, the budget and trade.  She'll have all the same challenges Obama did and with not much more chance of resolving them unless Congress changes radically.

Agree on Ms. Clinton. Trump probably a moot point. She'a no spring chicken. Either wins and they will be the oldest President at 1st inauguration we've had. The more populist movements that are actually the real story of the entire process will sort out over 4 years. No bets or predictions how, other than to say that the expanded and energized progressive caucus in the new Senate will be a bone to be chewed.

Re: One Term President?

We simply have to develop a group in both houses of Congress that can be swing voters rather than line up like marionettes behind one party or the other.  We need a group that can cause either party to realize that some compromise may get part of their agend passed but no compromise will get none of their agenda passed.  Call them Independents, call them Moderate (Republican) (Democrat), whatever, we need them desperately and I'm hopeful we can get them.  Hurrah for the great middle-of-the-road and boo on the extremists of either flank.

Yes, if a dumb possum gets in the road of someone who is willing to straddle the center line when it is appropriate, the dumb possum will get run over.
