Re: Patriots

there are plenty of people that are not rich that will blow hundreds of dollars to some stupid concert that won't give over $50 a year to support a church or anything to a food shelf.

Not absolute proof, but very interesting

Slow to load for me.

It now seems preety clear that the initial leak to Bob Kravitz came out of the Colts organization. I bet the NFL is just livid with them for being such bad sports at such a sentivie moment.

On the other hand, viewership for the SB will probably go up with a Bad Guy in this particular Pro Rasslin' Texas Death Match and they'll have "cleaned everything up" by next year.

Re: Not absolute proof, but very interesting

It is possible that the Patriots have hit on a moneyball type statistical fact that it doesn't matter how talented your skill position players are- the key to winning is that they take care of the ball.

If you had cracked the code to that extent you sure wouldn't be advertsing it. Once everybody figured out what Billy Beane was doing with statisitcal analysis with the A's they were all doing it to some extent and the advantage was lost.

Or they may have just been regularly deflating balls. Particularly in modern times where everybody is taught from junior high on to punch at the ball, a softer ball has distinct advantages both for holding onto and absorbing blows better.

Re: Patriots

Feeling good here about your positioning of the bar there DA..4 figures here to our church and countless hundreds more to numerous charitble causes and cash, goods and volunteer time to the local food shelf.  I feel bad for whomever you might be referring to.

Re: Patriots

well, good for you. If you do go to any of those events, you are obviously rubbing shoulders with many that don't ante up for the big stuff, but sure can find the $ for the small stuff in life.

Re: Patriots

Hanging 'round these here parts on this form has me "rubbing shoulders" with the likes of a number of folks whose personal views I disdain, but it doesn't keep me away.

That's life.  Mine and yours. Everybody's. I've generally found it best not to be giving too  many people instructions on how they could improve themselves. The Red and Joni "everybody should want to be like me" BS.

And can it. please, with the comments about attending music events.  I come form a family deeply immersed in all sorts of music.  Some even professional perfomers and instructors.  Numerous diverse genres, from church music to saloon rock bands and a even a chair in a large city's orchestra.  A good share of the travel and recreation time and budget centers around music. Dry up.

Actually I think Red has a very good idea. If we can tax cigarettes 100% why not sporting events and concerts. The tax would be 100% voluntary. Use the money for inner city school choice of charter schools.

Re: Patriots

the beauty of my plan is that it really doesn't cost the person going to a Garth Brooks concert anything....the Brooks mgmt team already sets the price at pretty much the max they can extract....if the public will pay $80 a ticket, they charge it. If the tax is 100%, they will still charge $80 gross but $40 will go to something to help others. The $40 comes out of Garth Brooks' pocket. Same for those public financed professional sports franchises...I don't see them giving any indigent care. People can still spend $1000 or more for a super bowl ticket, but the indigent will get fed, too.

Just because John Kerry docked his yacht in another state to avoid his states boat tax doesn't mean all the liberals are that way, right?
