Actually those people are dead...long, long ago...dead. So they can't be the "same guys," can they?
Why are you high on protecting this dentist so much and haven't a word to say about shooting relatively rare animals for trophies?
I think we should streamline adoption for people and give better support to unwed mothers while educating people better about contraception and making it easier not to get pregnant in the first place...FYI. If you stop unwanted pregnancy guess what? I think you MAY be able to guess. Since this topic has gont to heck, I might aw well indulge you fellers in a little common sense.
In a statement, Mr Palmer told Colorado News, Mr Palmer said the authorities had yet to contact him and added he did not know the lion he had killed was a "local favourite".
"In early July, I was in Zimbabwe on a bow hunting trip for big game. I hired several professional guides and they secured all proper permits. To my knowledge, everything about this trip was legal and properly handled and conducted," he said.
"I had no idea that the lion I took was a known, local favourite, was collared and part of a study until the end of the hunt. I relied on the expertise of my local professional guides to ensure a legal hunt.
"I have not been contacted by authorities in Zimbabwe or in the US about this situation, but will assist them in any inquiries they may have. Again, I deeply regret that my pursuit of an activity I love and practice responsibly and legally resulted in the taking of this lion."

Re: So you liberals don`t like lions?
While this may all be somewhat exonerating on the outcome of his hunt, I think paying $55,000 to kill a lion is a pretty terrible idea. You can't eat lions. They are absolutely necessary to a healthy bush ecosystem and when you shoot an adult alpha male, a new one moves in and does away with any existing cubs and breeds his own. I think he should shoot it with a camera and post pictures of a live animal on his facebook page, his office and in his house. People would admire that. As it stands now, he will be lucky to keep any customers in his dentist business. He's a lousy shot too - maybe he couldn't do any better with cameras than he did with his bow. He's been in trouble before as others have pointed out. He likes to kill big African game and brag about it. You admire that? Sounds more to me like you are excusing it. Maybe this will put that trophy hunting organization out of business.

Re: So you liberals don`t like lions?
When lions get old they will die anyway, why not before they are frail and pitiful have someone pay big money to take them as a trophy and use that money to crack down on poachers and preserve their habitat?
It`s just your opinion that the trophy money doesn`t go to wildlife preservation there. If that somehow is not the case, then perhaps your beef is with the Zimbabwean government. The American hunter paid all fees and regulations and brought needed money to their country, it was all on the up and up.
Mugabe the cannibal molded and shaped Zimbabwe what it is today. White farmers if any are left have been robbed, raped, tortured and murdered...not a safe place. If you want to argue semantics of if Zimbabwe and Mugabe and the current "elected" leader somehow are not communist or because they manipulate elections that Zimbabwe is some sort of paradise, you are entirely missing the point.

I didn`t personally call you or any of the "devil`s advocates" on here retarded or clowns. I call liberals that. For all I know you guys are actually smart and just pitching me these slow hanging curve balls to hit out of the park.
Here is a 60 Minutes piece about a big game ranch in Texas that protects the game.

Wasn't in my country and involved no tax dollars. I don't really care. What I care about is innocent unborn children in this country crushed for their organs and subsidized with tax dollars. And no one wants any pictures of that posted anywhere. They do their best to bury the videos and want to pretent it never happened. May God forgive us and help us.

Re: So you liberals don`t like lions?
I'm not gonna disagree. I have seen how some of my neighbors hunt deer and coyote, those guys are just plain stupid but at the same time I know there are way too many deer and the DNR thinks they should maintain the population. Personally, I try to avoid killing things and the idea of having an animal as a trophy doesn't appeal to me in the least. Your cause is mostly for good but I just wish you guys would put as much passion into the prevention of killing human infants.

Oh...uh huh ok then.
I didn't click the link. I suppose your point is that someone in another country that has nothing to do with this man, this lion or this story is protecting endangered species. Good or them.
But that would be like comparing a no good sob hog producer with 10.000 sows in total confinement on one farm with an organic guy with 100 sows rooting in a pasture. So,therefore one farmer is good, they ALL Must be good and receive a subsidized pat on the back.
Oh, and I wouldn't kid a kidder. You should know that, I should think.

Well the guy hired local guides and had all of the proper permits. He did not have a permit and e knew exactly what lion it was and that is why he paid 55k to kill it. He said he had no idea the lion was a local favorite or that it was lured from the park. Looks to me like the blame lies with the local guides whom he hired. I just can't understand how someone can get so upset over a lion but not a child. But I'm glad you got your personal insult in.
