Re: Please, explain to me,

I can agree with you on the subsidies and maybe even crop insurance. I think the point I was trying to make is that in our system, there are always going to be some things we can classify under socialism that we all benefit from. As for means testing on SSI - everyone who can afford not to need it all put together wouldn't add up to much. You would have to means test all the way down to about 40K is what I heard once from an economist and by the time you get down that far, they probably will need that income.

The bottom line is that both parties are going to have to get together and streamline government is a way that does not create hardships on any particular class of people be they rich or poor. There are ways to make government better, smaller and faster without gutting out everything - but the likelihood of congress getting together and working on that is zero.

Socialised crop insurance.....is it good for society or bad? I say it is bad because it transfers wealth into the hands of the few. A bridge does no such thing.

- I don't know much about crop insurance and how it works. It seems like everyone is pretty much ambivilant towards it, so I just have to trust that the majority is right. Besides, that is a very small part of the whole that  I was discussing here. If most farmers say to put it on the chopping block, I trust them and their assessment.

You need to remember your paradigm of me is that I am for all government programs (whether I really am or not), so there is no way you can guess how I might really view something. I am labeled and that's that.

I don't know if you are for all government programs or not. None of my business and really don't care. Goverment either grows or shrinks, it never stays the same. The more it grows the more freedom we the individuals who live under that government lose. I am for less government and more freedom. This is what I advocate and this is what I vote for.

Re: Please, explain to me,

Knapper, you`re just playing semantic word games in an attempt to not be nailed down on "how much socialism is too much socialism".  I guess the rural electrification and the G.I. Bill and such was "our father`s socialism" and there`s no argument that it made America strong. However this "post 2008 socialism" divides the country, weakens us and will no doubt destroy us.

I guess in short, if you`re happy with the post-2008 socialism...well, then we know where you stand.

Elite vs underdogs like you.  Bush was a Yale grad, Obama a Harvard, krugman a Yale,  Kerry a Yale. Figure it out man.

Actually for you specifically I will repeat, "You need to remember your paradigm of me is that I am for all government programs (whether I really am or not), so there is no way you can guess how I might really view something. I am labeled and that's that."

It seems that 3020 at least uses his brain and goes by observation, unlike you. He has proven this before and I need to remember that. As for you, I have doubts.

Re: Please, explain to me,

I respect that idealism. I will keep that in mind. I only want what is best for the majority of the people while not excluding the few who do not have resources.

It must be h3ll being you! How can even bear to get out of bed each morning as negative and full of hate as you are. Your frustration with things you aren't going to change is going to kill you. I'm surprised your family hasn't already left. Must really be tough on them. SAD SAD!
