Re: Political violence

I agree to a certain extent.  I don't like being threatened with a shooting or kicking my butt but usually just consider the source.  I have met with Milligan and he truly was a real gentleman in person.  We spent several hours with my wife in attendance--maybe she was a calming factorSmiley LOL but at any rate, politics was not even mentioned in passing!  We TOTALLY disagree on our politics and I really don't like many of the things he says like comparing Obama and other liberals to Nazis but in person neither of us thought much about that at all.

Re: Wrong you wouldn't enjoy an afternoon with Kraft-t Thanks Mr.Kraft

I'll tell you the thing that really gets my dander up and I can't even imagine the arrogance involved.  Perfect strangers who turn out to be raving rightwingers will assume that you are "one of them" (or maybe not) and will start a conversation and immediately start telling me how bad Obama is and relate many of the proven false charges against him and liberals in general.  They have no idea what my politics are and don't even bother to ask or hint.  I would NEVER do that to anyone.  I don't even do that with people I know but at least will discuss politics with people I know their politics and if we bring up politics.  If I came into a conversation not knowing anyone there, and started degrading every conservative person and idea that is out there, they would go ballistic.  BUT they don't have a problem doing it to others without knowing the first thing about them.

Re: BA Deere

Thanks for enlisting and your service.  You touched on the problem for many on here--my country is ALWAYS right and if you don't like it, get out!  There have been many posts on here in the past several years indicating just that attitude.  If one US soldier was arrested for muder and a liberal pointed that out, he was heaped with "you unAmerican, unpatriot POS, how dare you belittle american soldierS" and other such crap!  They still do it to a certain extent.  Many on here don't like me--like that will cause me to not sleep at night--and tell me that I didn't EARN my military retirement and that I was a coward and the gooks(not my term) beat me, etc, etc!  Again, I consider the source.

Re: Your problem is that you don't like losing much.

I'm not into telling you WHO could have won, but I can tell you WHAT would have won for Republicans. Basically BA, as much as it pains you to hear this, the right wing of your party has hijacked the Republican party, most likely through internal manipulation and politics rather than listening to Americans (just like all parties determine their platform these days). The Republican party is a good one, but as of today and certainly during the election, they did not really exist as "Republicans." They existed as "conservatives." What really existed was a idealistic Libertarian party but unlike Libertarians, there was support for a strongly intervening military. You mentioned Ron Paul - Libertarian.

What would have won? I think issues like tax reform, health care reform, reform of government, campaign finance reform and a whole lot of things with the word "reform" in it. This was not the discussion. The words "cut" and "do away with" scare the crap out of average Americans and that was the heart of the conservative movement of the party. Creating jobs was a winner issue, but the path to that was not directed at the right things (a long discussion there is needed).

Get someone to run who shows that they actually believe in Government, but it needs reform and you'll have a winner and be able to accomplish the goals you want, but you need America on your side. If you hate government, but want to work in government, there's something wrong. The idea is to change the system, not bring it down. Americans perceived that "conservatives" thought the solution was to do away with government. Then there were all the divisive social issues, but that's another topic too.

Just as an observation, I was a dem, my mother and father were and my wife still is. They wouldn't and my wife still doesn't agree with gun control and I can tell you my wife didn't like the whole booing god thing, so I would say there is a lunatic fringe in your party as well.  Let's face it though, the media did a real good job of keeping the nut jobs (Micheal Moore, Bill Maher, Black Panthers) out of the fold, but they are a big part of the dem party.

Surely you jest Mr. Kraft. Tell you what, since Jesus first miracle was changing water into wine, I will buy the wine if we ever have the chance to set down for a fine chat.Smiley Wink

Your focus was wrong

You determined that all our woes were the product of OBama and the dems. That was your target of negativity. Obama didn't have 666 on his forehead as much as you tried to put one there. Your solution and those of the teabaggers is to cut spending and lower taxes. We have tried the lower taxes gig and there was no great job creation or higher revenues.

It's what you are selling bub not who you are.

Everyone is your enemy. Unions, workers, mexicans, niXXers, women, the unemployed, the old, the frail, postal workers in fact most anyone that doesn't have the tea bagger mindset. After you and yours declared everyone else unworthy of consideration, you signed your own political death warrant.

Why would anyone elect a party that openly wants to make government smaller and less effective. Basically an armed war machine with low taxes? I find nothing in the new republican party that is admirable. They don't love america or it's people. They don't want to support america, they wish to tear if down. They don't even like fellow americans and campaign that they are mistly blood suckers and vote self interest all the time.

The best candidate for you is nobody until you and yours apply a serious self examination.

Re: Knapp

You had some good observations cowfarmer.

There is certainly a radical or far left part to the Democratic party (which I frankly don't like), but they are not the ones in control, nor were/are they the candidates. The Democratic party did not let the "nut jobs" have much say or influence on the party, though these people were out there exercising their freedom of speech and being loud as usual. These fringe elements have always been there, will always be there, but Democrats can still win without accepting their ideology. Who was the far left going to vote for anyway, Romney?
