maybe my memory is poor, but...

Clinton was impeached, was he not? He wasn't removed from office by the trial in the Senate, but the house did impeach the man for his malfeasonce in office.

And he also was disbarred. He is not allowed to practice law.

Correct me on both accounts if I am wrong.

Guess it takes a higher standard to remain an attorney than to be the POTUS.

Re: maybe my memory is poor, but...

Yes he was impeached. But the seanate determined that he was not guilty of any impeachable offense.

You're like the agressive prosecutor that brings a lousy case and then blames the jury for losing the case. The fact is the impeachment never should have been brought and wouldn't have been if slick willie would have been slick dubya.

So you see all this political dramatics is republican bull scat as they try to undermine every democrat president since JFK and how much guilt do the repubs have in kennedy's demise.

The way I remember it

I remember when Monica made her claims.   She was called a liar, hussy, tramp (and worse), was being accused of making up false stories, just to get her 15 minutes of shame, etc, etc.

Right about that time, I belive there were a couple other women, a Kathleen Willy (I think) and  Paula Jones, both of whom were also called liars, opportunists, and had pretty much every past discrepancy dragged up, in order to smear their character.

Funny thing, I don't remember it being the Republicans, who were doing the smearing, name calling, and accusing of these women.

I'm not saying that the GOP wasn't using them as policial pawns, but if you are going to talk about women being villified, you might want get the villifiers right.

Re: The way I remember it

Do You remember Linda Tripp, close confidant and friend of Monica Lewinski. What did she have to say?

And there was an older gal that was drumming the chords of disent against monica. Can't recall her name but her son is on the modern day media. May have to have Bruce's memory to help me recall.

Re: The way I remember it

Lucianne Goldberg was the batch that tried to bring clinton down. Supposedly she was on the staff for JFK but their is no record of it. Then she joined LBJ's campaign effort and tried to sell a memo from JFKs office and the former first lady demanded that it be returned to the archives. So much for the pleasent Mrs. Goldberg.

Thus she was a writer digging up all the crap that was in sight. She was instrumental in the claim that the clintons had Vince foster assassinated. Such is the character of the clinton accusers which resulted in the failure to remove him from office.

Jonah Goldberg is her son a product of their involvement in the Clinton Lewinski scandels. Another conservative cancer on the political landscape.

Just remember acquitted in the US senate finished his term and is probably the most beloved of our former presidents. In popular opinion pols he would no doubtly be the most popular politician in the United States. And that sir, is what you have got to live with.

Re: The way I remember it

Didn't Tripp say not to clean the dress, as it was evidence, and her 'ultimate protection' in case she was being called a liar about her testimony regarding her relationship with Clinton?

It seems to me, that Tripp was trying to prevent Lewinski from being branded a 'liar', by not destroying proof of what happened.

If you have any links to dispute my memory, by all means, post them.  I want to know the whole story.

Re: The way I remember it

What I thought was interesting was Newt Gingrich as Majority Leader of the House, made a big deal out of it.  Then later on he admitted to having an affair during that time.  True definition of the hypocrite.  But most on the Christian right are so no big surprise.
