Tom, now that you mention it, I remember that, as well.

I was glad to see that another hypocrate left office (well, if ALL the hypocrates left, it would be pretty empty in Washington, but you know what I mean). 
For someone to say that because of what Clinton did, he wasn't fit for office, it was only right, that he stepped down.  On the bright side, if I remember right, he 'retired' rather than go through hearings, etc.   Maybe he had a flash of conscience, maybe he felt that he'd be kicked out anyway, and was trying to minimize the damage.   Either way, given the situation, it was good that he was gone.

Actually, the facts are that Gingrich was pretty silent during the impeachment proceedings. Bill Clinton had already had his henchmen get the goods on Knewt and Callista, and they called him in for a late night meeting where they said they would keep the slience on Knewt in exchange for him not pressing Clinton. Check it out. It was a classic power struggle and there were not many heros , if any.

 

Plenty of dispicable human beings, though.
