Prejudice & Racism
Over and over I read on this forum about racists.
The liberals are racists, the conservatives are racists, the blacks are racists and of course the whites are racists.
You know what? All those claims are true.
We are all racists to some degree.
Now how will we ever stop being racists until we admit it to ourselves and admit that many of the people we point fingers at have reasons to feel a little racist too. So if someone says something out of line ask yourself why they might feel that way.
I suggest many people have been brought up with those ideas and have never had the opportunity to 'rub shoulders' with others to find out they are people just like you and me.
Now until everyone tries to overlook the idiots radicals that continue discrimination and ignores their calls to hurt the 'others' because one of the 'others' put out a similar call how can it stop?
Comment from a Canadian trucker who hauls into your country 'it is noticeable in parts of the US how the blacks are still discriminated against. In places I (as a white man) can not hold a door open for a black person. They will insist I (the white person) go through ahead of them. It is not the same down there as it is here in Canada'
His observations.
I have also heard/read comments on how USA society in so many areas sets itself up in separate communities. The blacks live here and the whites live there. The Hispanics have another area etc. There is not the co-mingleing of people but rather a separation of different groups so people do not get to understand their 'different' neighbours.
Just a few thoughts on all this racist talk/postings.
I'm off to bed.
Now for your thoughts?

Re: Prejudice & Racism
Hey Canuck, I`ll tell you who started this mess and who`s fault it is. It`s the liberals on here! Conservatives said "Obama`s going to tax us to death" and I distinctly recall Schurrbart saying "You guys just hate him cause he`s a Black man!", that was in about February of 09. Then the Tea Party came along last summer, the liberals said "It`s a RACIST outfit and Oh yeah Sarah Palin`s a idiot!" Liberals can`t respond intelligently to the issues so they always fall back to their old standby.....call us "racist!" and we`re suposed to go into the fetal position and suck our thumbs. Well a good lot of us are sick of it and are fighting back. Canuck, you`re one of the good ones ....liberals that is, keep up the good work!

Re: Prejudice & Racism
Morning BA. Wet here. Wheat is not finished yet and this heat and humidity will not keep the good quality we have had so far. Need some feed wheat? We are probably making it today.
You are still wanting to point your finger and I am saying you are all racists. Some more vocal and more noticeable than others.
Until you all accept that and stop putting others down and into separate 'boxes' you will continue to have race issues.

Re: Prejudice & Racism
Good point Canuck, we are all racists. Racism and predjudice are a result of perceptions which are a result of life experience. Things we see, things we hear, things we feel.

Re: Prejudice & Racism
I agree that finger pointing serves no purpose and the problem with race in America started well before we popularly used the words liberal or conservative. It started with things like "racism," "predjuice," "discrimination," "segregation," "Jim Crow laws," "separate but equal," and a host of others. We tried to equal things out, believing that by presenting opportunity to someone, they could raise themselves by their own bootstraps. It worked in some ways, but not in others. Today, rather than look for a solution, people want to race bait, stir things up and finger point. That's shameful. We have a system in America for changing things, but there are many road blocks for reducing spending and creating a sensible, public-serving government.
I keep saying this, but we here in the US will NEVER have a government that truly serves and represents the people until we can make elections about representing the people rather than representing those who finance the campaign and create huge debts of favor. You won't find a politician that can resist this form of WELFARE. They want the money and they want a big campaign so they cab beat the other party or pereson running. This needs to be the focus of real reform. But....most would rather talk about who is a problem among the electorate and that turns to race.
Support public finance of campaigns. It will wind up costing you more when our congress has to spend, spend, spend to pay back financial favors. It's the real deal, believe me.

Re: Prejudice & Racism
I know it is not possible, but I sometimes wonder if this race thing would end if all race related programs would end. If we are all gonna be equal, let's all be equal, if you have programs slated toward any one group, you discriminate another. Of course it causes hard feelings, why wouldn't it?

Read my original post and you will see I said we are ALL racist to some degree.
Some flaunt it, some go forth and try to convince others to be racist too. Many know it is wrong and try to correct their ways when their own racism shows up.
Now you want to point fingers at a radical so watch this too

There are always others on the 'other' side to help keep the flames burning.
Too bad the silent majority is silent so much.

Re:Racism is taught
Today my nearly 5 year old grand daughter went to soccer practice. 5 little white boys and girls and one little black boy> There was no difference in the kids or how thery treated each other They had varying degrees of talent but their interaction with each other was if all were the same.
Why would anyone think any of them were inferior by any measure?. I see a whole lot of loving going on by moms and dads and the kids that need it. I'm not advoctaing that people embrace each other and sing KUM BY YA but it would be helpful if we just didn't go ou of our way to injure each other. Not just physically but verbally as well.

Re: Prejudice & Racism
Hey Canuck, let me run this analogy by you. If the world was inhabited by only horses. There may be a Belgian work horse that`s fast and there maybe a Quarter horse that`s strong....however on average the Belgian would be better suited for ploughing and the Quarter`s strong suit would be sorting cattle. If the horses said "under the hide, we`re all equal equines", those horses would be lying to themselves. You as a Pig man know Landrace is lean, good mothers and big litters. Where as Berkshire= small litters, high quality meat and slow growth. To say "all swine is equal" is also a lie. For the record I`m NOT trying to convince anyone to be racist. I`m asking the unaskable and begging someone to point out my error.

Re: Prejudice & Racism, BA
OK BA. I know what you are trying to say BUT no one selected and bred humans to enhance a few traits. It all happened by chance.
Man selected and deliberately mated, including inbreeding, select genetics to create those different breeds of animals.
That did not happen (for the most part, there was Hitler and probably a few slave owners but none had the time that it takes to accomplish any changes in humans because of the long time between generations) in humans.
There was the natural selection for skin pigment probably because of the amount of sun in different latitudes but few other differences that I am aware of.
