Here's my nightmare scenario that is unfortuately fairly possible.
Europe is tipping over, China is slowing.
GOP wins senate and several house seats and commences upon 2 years of civil war to make sure that someone like Obama never again threatens the hegemony of straight (purportedly), melanin deficient, christian (ostensibly), male mediocrities.
Throw in an ebola epidemic (merely grist for the mututal blame game, politically speaking).
Two years hence we'll be a stronger country, having experienced the rejevunative effects of the Mellonite purgative.
Power will flow to where it belongs, the millionaires (former billionaires) who will make sure that there is a bit of weak soup and coarse bread if those of the former middle class are willing to wait in line long enough.
Even the value ammunition hoards will not be left untouched in the deflationary wave.
