Re: Q Tip “goes all Keynesian”

Bruce, so why the hell didn`t the Democrats call "Trump`s bluff" and send a CLEAN +$1 Trillion infrastructure bill???

https://www.npr.org/2018/02/11/584940681/trump-to-unveil-long-awaited-1-5-trillion-infrastructure-pl...

snip

President Trump will finally be unveiling his long-awaited $1.5 trillion plan to repair and rebuild the nation's crumbling highways, bridges, railroads, airports, seaports and water systems Monday. But, the proposal will not be one that offers large sums of federal funding to states for infrastructure needs, but it is instead a financing plan that shifts much of the funding burden onto the states and onto local governments.

Trump lowered regulation on construction on his own, but the media wanted to talk about "impeachment".

Re: Q Tip “goes all Keynesian”

Although I imagine that 'ol Ludwig and Friedrich would approve.

They were primarily reactionary social philosophers more than economists.

Gotta do whatcha gotta do to get those Hohenzollerns back on the throne and everything right with the universe.

Re: Q Tip “goes all Keynesian”

"Clean" infrastructure bill.

Now that there's a funny one.

Maybe somebody could work something up about that for Pres. Rickles' next gig.

Aah! This might explain it

The three VP’s staff must have read a poll somewhere that said The Boy Mayor was winning and unearthed that he was going to call for debt reduction so swung QT into action:

By now the Dennison campaign probably has a crack team divided up and assigned in groups to digging up or fabricating something on each Dem  candidate. A Burisma unit, a Pochahantis  team, a Jane Sanders should be in Prison task force.

Hopefully BA can tell us what they’ve got on our Amy.

Although I can't recall anyone running for President* who wasn't going to "balance the budget."

Probably all but one actually knew what it meant, though.

*WJC actually did. The horror!

Re: Aah! This might explain it

I would reiterate that Hayek and von Mises were more similar to Marx and Engels- social philosophers of the economic realm. Keynes and his descendants more just technocrats- if you want to get full employment (and perhaps save Democracy and capitalism at the time), this is how you do it, and the world won't come to an end.

BTW, it is now obvious that balancing the budget any time in the future is a ridiculous notion- we have a sputtering late stage expansion even with $T deficit.

Isn't going to happen except in a suicide pact of a Republican Congress vs. a Democrat POTUS.
