Why not encourage an obese population to choose a more healthy diet. Are you challenged by this. In case you don't know the government is involved in financing of health care and the existance of obesity and diabetes is almost epidemic proportions. Yes educating our people is a worthy goal. Far more important the killing little brown kids half way around the world.

Eat a gob of bacon and deep-fried twinkies in protest for say ten years, every day. Add some fast food and daily fried foods. Your body will then tell you the truth, politics aside. You ain't weak ( but your heart might be following the common American diet!).

I think you might have taken the whole thing out of context.  She couldn't give a rats if anyone ate their heads off but to offer some advice is not uncommon.  Being so paranoid about the communists taking over the government would lead you believe how Obama is now telling all what to eat.  I think you have over re acted.  Have a lie down and keep up the medication and don't eat too much.  For that matter try some humble pie.

We've successfully driven the father out of the family equation, provide breakfast,lunch and dinner at school and the mother is replaced. .gov takes care of our elders. Depend not on family, the government is the one who cares for you. Be a loyal and hard working vasel and you will know no pain or hunger.

Sam...what % of those who find themselves in those various dark corners that you describe are there by measured choice? Would prefer to stay? Wouldn't want a better situation and be willing to work to such an end?

It's the lack of a genuine capitalistic system as you bemoan and I agree with that is responsible more than anything else for most of the decline, which ultimatley creates and includes ever growing numbers of faceless poor.

Conservatives are going to be in for a short run if the one and only factor they finger on every issue is poor people are at blame for whatever comes along. Heck, maybe it was the poor that drew up Wisconsin's offensive game plan for the Rose Bowl, huh?The true beleivers are rejuvinating that notion in the homeownership-morgage-MBS crisis. How do you suppose they'll get it factored in with dealing with a commercial real estate crash. "Po' folks done bought  up all 'dose malls and wayehouses too"?

What is the problem with providing a breakfast and lunch for children at school?  How many children in this country used to go to school without a meal?  They can't learn much if they are hungry and many times there just isn't anything at home.  Only the ones who come from poor families get the breakfast and lunch free or at a reduced cost.  Everyone else has to pay full price for it.  I swear, the more I read from you guys the crazier you are becoming!!  I read your msg and feel that if one doesn't become a card carrying conservative in your image, they should just die or be killed.  Much like what most of you claim is the goal of all Muslims.  Can't believe y'all!!

You don't know what you're talking about. Its not 1975, the stigma is gone, a large percentage of kid get subsidized lunches and breakfasts, now they'll get dinner too.

The school lunch programs must be the most defrauded of all.  As best I can tell there is no verification of eligibility, the schools want kids in the programs because they get more money.   My kids tell me that they are among the few who are not in the program (title 1 school).   I know kids in the program whose parents have more than enough money to pay for their lunches.  I guarantee if they sent out 1099's for value of the program enrollment would drop in half.
