Reading through the Chelsea thread

Wondering how long "Clinton" is actually going to play in R Wing campaigning and electioneering.

If someone is under 30 or so all of the Bill's peccadillo stuff is going to ring hollow.  Hillary lost first the nomination (to an opponent, like it or not, who eventually became highly approved of and actually considerably revered by people under 40) and then got it and lost.  There is a huge gap since any policies came along that had a Clinton with a mark on them.

The notion that there was aid given to Trump by a foreign power is rapidly becoming known to be factual. The person  who benefitted from that is putting up historically low approval numbers, which doesn't necessarily mean that there is a long tail to the concept that Hillary should have won or that any of those folks who didn't vote for her wish they had, but it hangs around like a dirty shirt for true believers who will only sound crankier  and crankier.

Biggest factor is how easy it will be for the average as well as the most serious Democrat to "move on".  More new faces and styles and platforms than you can shake a stick at. The vast majority of them with no ties, no connections to Bill and Hillary.  Their spawn might be able to nab herself a seat in the NY State Assembly or some appointment or whatever, but she gets nowhere fast coming out of Wall Street and trying to rise in what the national party is going to be looking for in standard bearers.

fwiw, I'll go to my grave holding a serious dislike, often bordering on anamosity for her Mom and Dad for being DINOs on the heavy issues, D's after a fashion on the cultural stuff. But I believe they are more forgettable than that for most.  What the next generation of matters and issues that Democrat pols bring to the fore won't be things that can be tied back to them.  The handicap that they have put in place on every Democrat running from dog catcher on up is probably coming off. Not saying any of them will ever win....

Re: Reading through the Chelsea thread

"Left"??

Just who are you talking about?  You always seem to imply that there is something organized or centralized.

There is a small segment of anarchists who make a lot of noise. And then there is the rest who are all over the place ideologically.  Many of whom are prepared to express themselves when they detect hooey.

Spend a little time looking in to the response to the Coulter censorship at Berkeley matter. You will find all sorts notable "left" figures who support her being able to express herself in a public forum.

The fact that they may not agree with a single word of her babble and drivel doesn't constitute censorship.  Disagreement isn't exclusion.

is engaging the legal system censorship?

Re: Reading through the Chelsea thread

Well, you sensible liberals over tolerate the "anarchists" because they are like "sending in the Marines" to take away the opposition`s will to fight.  I don`t see Krugman or Andrew Sullivan denouncing the brick throwers...they perfectly understand BLM shutting down I-35 going into Mpls, while out of the other side of their mouth claiming they want "peace & tolerance".

On the flip side if a Republican tells an off color joke, it`s the Conservatives themselves demanding they resign...*see Trent Lott .  Oh I know "Donald Trump", but to this day there are Republican never Trumpers undermining him and would gladly sign the articles of his impeachment.

With the Clintons, they got you where you guys are today (having gotten Obama elected and all that entailed) .  Today Bill Clinton (DADT DOMA welfare reform) wouldn`t be tolerated in the Democrat party.  Oh, the Clintons changed and "grew" in their ideals, but it wasn`t enough, fast enough and they couldn`t change that they have a skin pigment that`s prone to sunburn...so you all threw them under the bus.   Like a old New Idea steel wheeled hay rake and a JD1450 5,16 plow that`s sitting in the grove..they served their purpose and got a farm where it is but now the farm has a NH discbine and a Earthmaster and one day iron goes up a junker will clean out the grove.

Re: Reading through the Chelsea thread

What I was trying to say as that I can't see that the general "by sssociation" meme will hold through many more if any election cycles.

The GOP/right have their most extreme views right there at the top...in administration. There is no bushel any of that can be hidden once there get to be discussions with end meanings.

See: AG Sessions.  EPA Director Pruitt KS Governor Brownback. When the objective recorded comes into the public view. The hard *****/ wired support base for folks like that is still well under 20% at best.

Calling a man he instead of ze is now considered hate speech. Exon Mobil is facing lawsuits because they say man does not change the climate. Some law makers even want them to face prosecution.

Re: Reading through the Chelsea thread

Key word:  Some

Those notions and actions are not part of the platform of a party or the record of an administration.

Is the DNC bringing lawsuits against individuals or companies?  Hateful, discriminatory actions and directives are coming out of the sitting DOJ like water over a waterfall.

Rest easy, though. 96% of Trump voters say they'd do it again. Your base is secure with 15% of the citizens of The Republic.

oh, and yeah...

You won't have to face the prospect of a Clinton in your White House any more. Some, I don't think that is as reassuring to you as one might think it would be. The barrel might be out of fish

Re: Reading through the Chelsea thread

This is perhaps hard for you to see, but the Trump administration isn`t an "extreme" agenda..okay,Trump isn`t kicking homosexuals out of the Army and ending the gay marriage hoax, a gay person could very easily support Trump, unless they are also a socialist homosexual.  Trump isn`t advocating getting rid of Obamacare without a even juicier replacement.   Trump stands up for US factory workers, much of Dick Gephart`s 1980`s rhetoric and overlaps a lot of Bernie Sanders

The only thing that`s "extreme" about Trump is that he wants the rule of law followed that Teddy Kennedy promised on securing the border after Reagan was rolled on the issue, now the problem is 4X`s worse than when Reagan was in.   And given the national debt is 20X`s worse than in Reagan`s America, we can`t afford all these Mexicans.   Those of you looking to the government for goodies should support Trump, because he ain`t trying to cut you and for every Mexican here collecting goodies, that`s less goodies for you.   Not to mention, we are at the end of the line, is $25 Trillion  $30 Trillion national debt sustainable??/   I don`t think so.
