Re: Republican mantra: Tax cuts will create jobs Reality: NOPE

You still don't get it. Warren Buffet and people like him with gigantic incomes are at a lower rate and won't be effected by ending of the Bush tax cuts. But, to the high dollar incomes that will be effected that can't put their incomes off into the future, it creates an incentive to take that money as actual income INSTEAD of reinvesting it back into some business.

I came across some more Indiana republican logic, where if something doesn't work.......just do more of it.

Oddly enough, Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.), currently the House Republican conference chairman, suggested yesterday that he doesn't think his party's tax policies worked, either.

"Jim DeMint and I are offering legislation on Capitol Hill today to say, look, let's make all the current tax rates permanent, uh, and then let's start to work from there toward putting in place the kind of policies that'll really get this economy moving again. You know, I think it's fair to say, if the current tax rates were enough to create jobs and generate economic growth we'd have a growing economy. It's not working now. Let's at least give some certainty there and then we'll fight for more tax relief."

Those who watch Pence regularly know he's not the sharpest crayon in the box, but this quote is pretty amazing, even for him.

Pence thought Bush's tax cuts would work wonders. He was wrong. This leads Pence to now believe we should keep the policy that he knows didn't work, and then do more of it. It's the patented "fail and fail again" approach to economic policy.

Re: Republican mantra: Tax cuts will create jobs Reality: NOPE

It wasn't the Bush tax cuts that lead to economic disaster, it was the policy of loaning money to people who had no chance to ever repay it. Pence is right, businesses don't like uncertainty. They will not expand business if they think a tax increase is around the corner that will remove money from the consumer, they will have less to spend on the business's products.

Re: Republican mantra: Tax cuts will create jobs Reality: NOPE

Do you actually believe that crap? He not only gave tax cuts but started two wars and doubled the national debt And he left such a lousy economy that it will take any president 8 years to build confidence in the public and the economy.

What is amazing is that after these years of the Bush tax rates, you still think low taxes create Jobs. Where the hell are the BUsh jobs created by those low rates.

Supposedly it's not a good time to raise taxes now. BUt I asked you when was a good time to raise taxes and you chose not to reply. So your solution to everything is low taxes. If I have debt I try to maximize income so that I can retire debt. Obviously that conflicts with your mindset. And we should think you are credible?? ReallY?

Re: Republican mantra: Tax cuts will create jobs Reality: NOPE

When you retire debt you also have to look at expenses. Raise taxes on profits and you will have less profits. With less profits there is less money to create new businesses and less money to buy anything those businesses might produce, and less money to reduce debt. No profits, no taxes. Where are the jobs the tax cuts produced, well, raise taxes and you will soon find out. Look to Greece for the answers, we are headed in the same direction. Socialism fails because after enough time because the producers quit producing. BTW Stimulus cost more than entire Iraq war. We have a lousy economy because banks willingly loaned money to people they knew would never repay it but knew their loans were good because the government said they were. The answer is not take more from the producers, the answer is to shrink the size and scope of government.

Re: Republican mantra: Tax cuts will create jobs Reality: NOPE

Your nuttier than a pet coon.

Government never said those loans were Good. It was the loan arrangers and bans that made those loans and bundled them together. The rating agencies(not the government) stamped those bundles with a triple AAA rating and they were marketed to unsuspecting investors.

Those folks wanted those loans no matter how risky because they were gonna bundle that crap and sell it to someone else. Meanwhile they bundled too many and when the market evaporated for those bundles the banks still had billions of them that weren't sold yet.

I have profits and I pay taxes on them and still retire debt and live pretty good as well. The truth is I don't know how to pay down debt without income. Plus I don't know how to get access to that income without paying taxes.

Lots of People think tax avoidance is the ultimate goal. Oh they buy new equipment to avoid taxes, but they don't have the cash so they borrow the money for that new tractor. Then they have to pay interest to finance the tractor. Plus they have to pay the loan balance off with after tax dollars. What have they saved? Nothing.

One question for you. If you are not going to pay off the debt with tax revenues just how do you expect to balance the budget and pay off the debt. Oh don't tell me by cutting spending. In reality it can't be done.

Re: Republican mantra: Tax cuts will create jobs Reality: NOPE

We have tax revenue. We have a lot of tax revenue. Tax revenue is not the problem, it's the other side of the balance sheet that needs to be looked at.

You are partially correct on the loans. The banks bundled them together and sold them, some were sold multiple times. I my opinion there was massive fraud committed and needs to be investigated. It was the backing of fannie and freddie that lead to many of the loans being made.
