Re: How can it be greedy insurance companies?

Is Forbes a tea party site?

Headline from Forbes:

Rate Shock: In California, Obamacare To Increase Individual Health Insurance Premiums By 64-146%

Is a 146% increase, somewhere between 2 to 3 times the original price?

(More from the article)

If you’re a 25 year old non-smoker, buying insurance for yourself, the cheapest plan on Obamacare’s exchanges is the catastrophic plan, which costs an average of $184 a month. (By “average,” I mean the median monthly premium across California’s 19 insurance rating regions.)

The next cheapest plan, the “bronze” comprehensive plan, costs $205 a month. But in 2013, on eHealthInsurance.com (NASDAQ:EHTH), the median cost of the five cheapest plans was only $92.

In other words, for the typical 25-year-old non-smoking Californian, Obamacare will drive premiums up by between 100 and 123 percent.

Under Obamacare, only people under the age of 30 can participate in the slightly cheaper catastrophic plan. So if you’re 40, your cheapest option is the bronze plan. In California, the median price of a bronze plan for a 40-year-old male non-smoker will be $261.

But on eHealthInsurance, the median cost of the five cheapest plans was $121. That is, Obamacare will increase individual-market premiums by an average of 116 percent.

If (as Obama claims) the ACA is 'deficit neutral' or close to it, how can one person get it 'free', without another paying double???

So what you are telling me is that cat. insurance in CA before ACA cost about $80-90/month? And individual policies only cost about $50/month BEFORE the ACA? If you say so.

His employer must have been paying the other part of it.

Re: How can it be greedy insurance companies?

Don't forget all the extra premium money coming in with millions more covered. BTW the government is raising the cost of crop insurance by subsidizing premiums. Why is government crop insurance good and Obama care bad? Oh you don't think crop insurers have high risk clients. That nobody insurers crops in the deserts of Kansas nebraska and colorado.

I wonder how many prevented planting claims are paid because BTO has more than he can handle..

What do you want to bet that weldzuis is a republican. The number of people applying for Obama care is only exceeded by the republicans whining about it. Why are you whining.you opposed it  attacked it, tried to repeal it 40 times and now your batching because it costs too much. Stay away from Obama care and buy your own **bleep** insurance from the private market. It is always better and cheaper anyway.

How do you know everyone will be charged the same amount. All the bill says is that if you have a condition that existed before you got insurance, you cannot be denied nor made to wait for a year or more before coverage begins for that condition. They will most likely be charged more because of the condition.but you can find that out easy enough.
