A couple of good rants here.

"Republicans, including those in the House and Senate, are content for big government to initiate wars without a declaration of war or even Congress’ assent, and to murder with drones citizens of countries with which Washington is not at war. Republicans do not mind that federal “security” agencies spy on American citizens without warrants and record every email, Internet site visited, Facebook posting, cell phone call, and credit card purchase. Republicans in Congress even voted to fund the massive structure in Utah in which this information is stored.

But heaven forbid that big government should do anything for a poor person."

Re: Roberts

Nox, you are a fan of PCR and I aplaude that, now here is PCR`s own words on "gun control"    The gal interviewing him is dumber than a box of rocks, but PCR makes some terrific points, especially if you are concerned about the police-state that this country has become.  Now to the point of taking care of the poor in this country, that is something that isn`t breaking our non-existent budget and we do need to take care of this country`s needy.  My beef is sending $1500/mo SS checks to rich 65 yr olds, means test it and focus funds on that 73 yr old gal that has to split her pills and wait tables at the diner to suppliment her SS check.  Here are some scary facts on how the Chinese are buying the country right out from under us, due to 30 yrs of free trade.   See, to send a Jeep to China that costs $27,000 here costs $85,000 in China after all the tariffs that the Chinese put on that vehicle.  This is all ridiculous...the best thing to do for poor people in this country is give them a living wage job, then they will pay taxes, buy houses, have kids and take care of their own retirement.

Re: Roberts

Yes, r's & d's alike love the police state. You see morons on here expressing dislike for big government and love for the CIA, the stupid hurts. But I'd disagree that they're making the dream work in Europe. The place is a basket case, France can't even seem to project power a bit farther than just across the med without the help of the USA.

Re: Roberts

the opposition party to the godless liberals needs to concentrate on winning the minds of the voters, and a sure way is to go after those on the very low end of the scale. Reagan never went after the truly needy...he just went after those that were peceived to be abusing the system...his imaginary "welfare queen" with the new cadilac car, for example.

The opposition party, I hate to say Republicans since I feel they have morphed into something currently not electable on the national stage, must find conservative leaders that can also wear their hearts on their sleeves, and cry on cue like BIll Clinton does. And make sure they have plenty of photo opps with little tiny tim, too.

You have to win elections to be in charge of national policies, and the current Republcian party is going to struggle to win national elections from here on in.

And no one wants to live in a facist state where the power is not won at the ballot box.

Mitt Romney may have actually cared about poor people and been generous but he lost the battle of perception to a couple that would put a poor person out on the street before granting them a room in their hospital, all the while Michele was collecting several hundred thousand dollars a year  there.
