Seems a pretty fair bet

that mass shootings will continue apace into the '20 election.*

If anything might up a bit as our psychologically disturbed POTUS gets out on the trail to energize The Base and scourge their enemies. There is clearly a contagious component in the phenomenon.

It appears to have only taken one phone call from (embattled) LaPierre to get the POTUS back in line. But gun absolutism has become a political loser for him and the GOP everywhere but the ruby reddest precincts.

*and beyond, since the nation is awash in guns and the best any gun control is going to do is possibly modestly reduce the number and casualty levels of the events.

Let us know when the D's get serious about some sensible gun control and not just use it as a political talking point.

Ted Cruz lays out the clear reason for the 2nd amendment. Nox please do not click on the link as it will cause severe distress and possible seizures.

Re: Seems a pretty fair bet

Of course the problem there is proving his god exists to 'give the right' to use a gun to kill anyone.

There was a video of a clerk shooting a potential robber. After the clerk shot the robber the first time and the person was lying on the floor in the fetal position the clerk continued to shoot several more times hitting the man again and again.

Is that justified by your god too?

I guess many other countries have different gods and were not 'given' this 'right' to own a gun without at least a license and appear to have better 'gods' since they do not have so many shootings happening.

It is the founding principle of this nation. Our rights come form God. Man can not takes those rights away. To give away our right to self protection is to give the terrorist what they desire. They will continue to slaughter if we have the right to self protection or not. Once we no longer have the right to self protection their task will be much easier.

Straw man.

Scalia's majority opinions in Heller and MacDonald make it clear that the Federal government can undertake measures such as background checks, red flag laws and banning  excessively lethal weapons.

All of those policies are popular but a minority has managed to block any Federal implementation.

And anyway, my point is to go right ahead and be an hysterical gun fondler- please. It is becoming a losing political issue.

The question of course is which god? And then until you can prove that god exists then your so called 'rights' are just hanging there with no proven source.

It would seem a safer argument to say your founding fathers consider those things in the constitution to be your rights

I Am He Who Am. They are our rights and no man has the authority to take them from us since no man gave them to us to start with. The Constitution was written as a proclamation of law to protect those rights from any government or authority.

That’s right out of the same school of logic as Dennison declaring thePres Obama was responsible for Russia’s annexation of Crimea.
