Shinseki

The current head of VA.. The same Eric Shinseki that told the world that the US would need several hundred thousands of troops to maintain order In Iraq after the agression was over. Bush cheney and co ran him out of town because those Itaqis were going to welcome us with open arms and few troops would be needed to maintain order. Plus we would have Iraqi oil to repay us for our financial out lay.

Now the righties want to run him out again because the VA cannot service the thousands of GI's that served in Iraq and Afghanistan for nigh unto a decade.

Not his fault, he's just doing what he is ordered to do.

Re: Shinseki

Do you REALLY think Obama told him to have the VA hospitals set things up to deny treatment to veterans so they would die?  If you do, you are worse than a special kind of idiot!

Ah! The proverbial missing link that poor resourceless and helpless wehav couldn't find for himself a couple of weeks ago. Gotta give the GOP leadership political cred for knowing how to gap an obstruct with a scandal.

This is how government care works. Resources lost to waste and fraud while the patients die in wait. There's no suprise here, it is to be expected.

Now maybe you can understand why I say I want no politician of any political party in charge of my health care. Has nothing to do with race. It is all about waste, fraud, and incompetence.

It's just life. Life is cheap.

This actually happened on the Senate floor this afternoon. Senator Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) asked for consent to take up and pass the Veterans Affairs Management Accountability Act, a bill that would make it easier/possible for the scandal-plagued department to fire employees based on poor performance. The House overwhelmingly passed the legislation on Wednesday, with a bipartisan vote of 390 to 33. (Only Democrats objected.)

Surely the Senate would follow suit, right? Not exactly. Senator Bernie Sanders, a union-backed socialist from Vermont, objected on behalf of Senate Democrats to Rubio’s request. Instead of taking any action now, Sanders said he is going to hold a hearing—several weeks from now.

Sanders, who chairs the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs, has been one of the most outspoken defenders of the VA against allegations of misconduct. When asked about reports of multiple deaths related to long wait times at the VA healthcare system, Sanders told CNN: “People die every day.”
