There is a ton of trouble in the world Craig.  And millions of people are facing conditions, or facing the possibility of conditions becoming, severely eroded from where they've been or from where they thought they would be.

But....seriously...your Children and Grand Kids "perishing before your eyes"?  By who's hand, or via what devices?

If a nuclear exchange breaks out in the Middle East, the radioactive fallout will float on over to here in a couple of days time.  Radiation sickness will kill the old and young first.   Their hair will fall out and they will perish in agony.

Sam & Craig

I said they were right wing and for the day and time and that the Nazi Party was the right as Germany knew it. This can not be compared to today's views when speaking of that time, politics and place. If the Nazi party was not the right, then what was the  Social Democratic Party and the Communist Party if not on the left? If you still insist I am wrong the tell me, who was the right?

The Nazis sent most the Communists to concentration camps and were even beat up in the Reichstag. Did they do that because they agreed politically? The3 Socialist Democratic party got into a tangle with the Nazis because they refused to reduce unemployment. Does that make the Socialists the ones on the right and the Nazis on the left?

Just because you and Sam make parallels in today's politics between the Nazis and the United States left does not change what happened in the late 1930s to post war in Germany. The Nazi Party, though viewed different by some was still a right leaning party for their day.

Re: Sam & Craig

They are both left wing. It's a convention to put the two at opposite ends of the spectrum. The view you were indoctrinated to, as I said. The opposite of totalitarianism is not totalitarianism it's anarchy.

Indoctrinated? No. Convention maybe. If I say anything, you'll just tell me what I think and know anyway.

Re: Slight of Hand

This from the man who about a year or two ago said that we should nuke the entire Middle East and when I suggested radiation would be a world problem, wouldn't back off the idea that the whole area should be nuked.......Now you don't want it and then you did and insisted you were right. If you had a button then, you would have pressed it.

If Obama pushes the button you will kiss the finger that pushed it.

You obviously have no idea what I think. I am against nuclear war and proliferation on any scale. I said it back when Craig suggested it and I stand by what I said then. If it were up to me, I'd take all the nukes in the world and dump them all.

Semantics is involved plus when the myth become the story, teach the myth.

Totalitarianism contains what we have seen manifest as Communism and Facism. The two faces of the same coin. Autocratic rule is probably a better term for both.

If you read Growing Up Absurd then it is a lot clearer. But I read that 40-years-ago and although I didn't l want to  it because of the author's politics, it was spot on when applied to the way we use language as a barrier to understanding.

Re: Slight of Hand

You had best work on your grammar then because the way you wrote it, the only conclusion was to think gas jumped about a dollar in price in Chicago! And if prices are "rocketing" upward, and they were $3.999 in Chicago just a month ago, why are they now much lower there??? Check Gasbuddy.com and see what they really!
