What elixer are you on today?

Yeah, I once believed the whole "efficiencies of scale" hoohah etc., but I reached the point where the consolidation of agriculture and the impact on rural communites overshot what I could stomach.

Just by personal experience I'm thinking the same will happen to a number of folks here who think they're on top of the crest of this wave.

Not that anybody is even remotely interested in this- and most are outright hostile- but I've been privately ruminating over policy choices that would help to reverse the trend of consolidation in agriculture.

Probably not a policy choice there, more a matter of things playing out in Kunstlerish manner.

That`s our problem Nox, we`ve been too damned hegemoronic and squandered the wealth of this nation!  We`ve fought and sometimes won the wars of the last 100 yrs, we bought into this free trade crap (I argued with liberals that were pro-NAFTA-"Well, if Mexico gets richer we won`t have a illegals problem"...yeah how did that work out?)http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=UdKHEH80INg   We opened up the border "come on in you poor basterds"....WTF???  we want rich hardworking people, the rest of the world can keep their freeloaders...and by "freeloader" I mean anyone the isn`t gainfully employed while here ie, pay federal income tax and don`t rely on the gov`t safty net.  This country is MUCH different than it was 30 yrs ago or even 5 yrs ago, half the country is on entitlement steroids.

Much as 3020 has said, you guys will wake up one day and your social security check will have 1/10th the buying power that it had the year before, most of your entire corn crop will be required to pay your property tax...you will then realize that your "government god" is dead, then perhaps you will be ready to discuss this intelligently....or perhaps I will have to calm you down because you will come to me looking to buy a gun and start WW3 along with your other Amigos.
