As CAL, FLA, AZ and TX fairly quickly become much more hostile to human habitation, population is going to migrate to the Cities and points east- around all sides of the Great Lakes.
Young folks might as well head there and beat the rush.
Hopefully they will avoid the urban (non) planning mistakes of the post-war to present period.
