Stockman and Simpson for co-interim dictators
I'd willing to endorse the turning over of policy to (these) Republicans

Re: how about just a different potus
If we can only get leaders like Paul on the POTUS mainstream ballots. If he is running close, he had better hire some good security and bodyguards.
Maybe we can find those quotes from a year ago when all our liberals were fawning over how much they revered Dr. Paul and hated the tea party. Without Paul, there is no tea party.
IMHO
Federal bureaucracy created the mess....tearing it down should be a good first step.

Re: how about just a different potus
He'd be a fine President. Primarily because his thinking is off the grid. A good thing. We need radical thinking because years of lazy, conventional thinking and acting has gotten us into a deep hole. Hope he keeps running, wish he'd do better. People need to hear what he has to say and for now it's just insider access.

Re: how about just a different potus
The classic piece of performance art from the 2008 election remains the crowd's response to RP at the Republican debates when he suggested that Islamic terrorism was the result of intrusive US foreign policy.
He seems to be the one individual who understands that the cost of empire is what is really weighing on the US, but good luck selling that line with the current GOP.
He's also been steadfast in opposing the unconstitutional elements of the security state that have been put in place since 2001 but again, I really don't see most of the rest of the TP crowd and aligned pols, including his son. It looks to me like they understand that their natural constituency has been thoroughly co-opted by the Fear Industry and they aren't going to fight it.

Re: how about just a different potus
He surely had something to do with inspiring the formation of the tea party but had nothing to do with the sort of non-economic tea partiers that showed up for all other sorts of reasons and wrecked any chance of it taking a real hold with people who are repulsed by those issues.
If the tea party was purely about economics and fiscal health, it would have attracted people for other wings and movements, Ron Paul, Bernie Sanders, Ralph Nader, Jeremy Rifkin, Wendell Berry, Jim Hightower etc. etc. aren't all that far apart on matters of the economy and fiscal policy. It's the other stuff.
If Sanders and Nader had started it....with prescisely the same views and platform planks on debt and the size of government as the folks who would be considered the founders do in fact hold (and their views aren't that differnet if you check them out) 90%+ of those who consider themselves to be tea partiers would not be...would not have been attracted.
The tea party political arm is dominiated by crackers who see it as a conduit to regressive social and cultural policy formation. Dozens of them made their way into the U.S. House of Represetnatives and hundreds were sworn in to state houses this winter. I'd defy anybody to find me ten of them who's primairy political concern was federal economic policy, or more improtantly knew or understood a damned thing about it, before Pres. Obama was elected.
So in the dark on such matters it's ridiculously easy for **bleep** Armey and the Koch Bros. etal to lead them iike lambs to slaughter.
We need honest discussions about our econimic future. It's a horrible vision. There has never been a body so openly and unashamedely dishonest in our modern history than the current GOP Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives. Thankfully, Rep. Paul isn't one of those...one can only hope that he will get increased face time. And you are probably right that he should be concerned for himself if he gets too much of it.
Most of you wnigers here seem to be big time Christian Zionist defense hawks. Content with the imperialist, "cop to the world" program. It becomes amusing, then, to see you turning around and fawning over Congressman Paul.

Tea Party rolls over on Constitution (and Ron wouldn't)
http://www.veteranstoday.com/2011/02/15/susan-lindauer-the-tea-party-crashes/
"My disappointment is particularly acute. Rather notoriously, I am distinguished as the second non-Arab American to face indictment on the Patriot Act, after Jose Padilla.
My status was pretty close to an enemy non-combatant. One would presume that I must have joined some terrorist conspiracy? Or engaged in some brutal act of sedition, such as stock piling weapons and munitions to overthrow those crooks in Congress?
You would be wrong. I got indicted for protesting the War in Iraq. My crime was delivering a warm-hearted letter to my second cousin White House Chief of Staff, Andy Card, which correctly outlined the consequences of War. Suspiciously, I had been one of the very few Assets covering the Iraqi Embassy at the United Nations for seven years. Thus, I was personally acquainted with the truth about Pre-War Intelligence, which differs remarkably from the story invented by GOP leaders on Capitol Hill."

Re: Tea Party rolls over on Constitution (and Ron wouldn't)
Well, I am and was totally against the Patriot Act from the beginning. However, after reading this article, I checked on it and was surprised to learn that the House defeated the renewal bill while the Senate confirmed it. Does that mean it is or it isn't?
