Tailgaters

Does anyone else have problems with people that get behind your combine and refuse to pass.I live on a busy blacktop with wide shoulders ,with the exception of going around mailboxes and thru bridges I can stay on my side of the center line with the combine.

Yesterday I had this little car almost underneath my stalk chopper but she wouldn't pass. The other traffic would come up behind her, then hesitate not knowing if she was going to pull around or not.She followed me for 2 miles before I got home,8 or 10 other drivers just went around as the road is pretty flat and has good visibility

Re: Tailgaters

Probably some poor old lady or man afraid to try and was planning on turning off before they had to go to far anyway. If I have that I will pullover at an intersection and let them go.

Hopefully, some day you will be old and unsure of things.

Re: Tailgaters

Our neighborhood response to that situation is when someone approaches from the rear you give them a wide open opportunity to pass. If they don't make a commitment to pass, then we tend to block any further opportunities. It is much too dangerous to constantly have someone seemingly allways at the ready to come flying around. Some drivers just do not use good sense. Just yesterday I had a driver come behind me and I was about a hundred yards from our driveway with my turn signal on and the driver passed. Normally I would not have given him the opportunity but I did not see him soon enough to get in the middle of the road and therefore block his passing. Maybe not the best approach but at least safe.

You must be a miserable person. An honest topic for discussion and you have to put stabs in. It would not be much fun to have you over for coffee.

We have IS slaughtering thousands, climate change swallowing the way we live, a presidential election which could change the course of humanity, interest rates across the world about to rise, china wanting to be partners with the US in major companies and other international crisis .

But no, throw that into the dustbin of history and forge ahead with government funding into answering one of the greatest rhetorical questions of modern man. WHY DO THOSE TAIL GAITERS DO IT?

If that is all you have to worry about, go back to sleep.

Re: Tailgaters

Around here people are pretty understanding, I have had a time or two if someone wouldn`t pass I`d drive into a field driveway and let the slew on by.   I used to go down the blacktop with a beanhean on and duck into a driveway if someone was coming, but no more.  Too risky
