Re: Tea party death squads

And I repeat, the hypothetical case posed to paul was that the guy was comatose!  How do you offer him anything at that point?  He chose NOT to take any insurance because he was in good health when it was offered to him.  He accepted the risk of taking responsibility for his actions.  So, do we, the people, just say tough, you're gonna just die???

Re: Tea party death squads

If I understood the question correctly that was presented to Paul, the guy wouldn't have been able to answer if given a death with dignity option because he was in a coma.

Re: Tea party death squads

Surely, you don't think that there is ONE silver bullet to cure the ills of this financial mess do you??  There has to be many small things done to effect the change and cause the least amount of suffering.  One of them would be to place all depreciation on at least a 10 year schedule.

Re: Tea party death squads

And I repeat, Paul should have answered he has the option of selecting a new Death with Dignity program option. If he doesn't want insurance, then the other no cost option would be in force.

No one would ask any questions, no needless suffering need occur, just exercise the option. The man made his bed let him lay in it. There needs to be this option Death with Dignity for those now wishing to pay for insurance, then the free option is made. Why didn't Paul offer this soln.?

Re: Tea party death squads

We aren't talking about "coulda, woulda, shoulda"!  We are talking about RIGHT NOW!!!  He chose not to have insurance and doesn't have the money to pay for longterm care.  Does he just die?  Or does the govt step in anc care for him?  Agaon who decides when the pill is made available?

Re: Tea party death squads

Wasn't Terry Shrivo kind of like the hypothetical guy in this question? What was it the libs wanted to do in that case?

Re: Tea party death squads

The "Libs" wanted her husband to decide for Terri Schiavo. Generally, pro life Christian conservatives wanted to keep her alive and let God decide. The two sides of her family could make no decision in unison, so it went to the courts. There were never any death panels, but you can bet your sweet bippy the insurance companies would want to end the expenses.

You can't always trust wikipedia, but this seems to be a good deacription of the events: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terri_Schiavo_case

So shouldn't the hypothetical guy get the same? Shouldn't his family decide?
