Re: Educated by Christians
If the New York attacks label all Muslims as bad then what does this do to all Christians http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_City_bombing ?
Sure makes me glad I understand the truth and am a non believer.
You therefore can not blame me for all the idiotic criminal things others do.

Re: Educated by Christians
Canucker,
Maybe you should enlighten the forum with what you have learned about Muhammed and Islam, vs.. Jesus Christ and Christianity. Not the followers, not the abuses, but the very heart and soul of the founder.
For starters, you might want to read a New Testament, and find out why one is called "The Prince of Peace". You will find some stories such as the night in the garden when Jesus tells his followers not to resort to violence, but to use peace to overcome their enemies. He heals a roman soldier that has had his ear sliced off by one of His followers.
Next, read a history of Mohammed. Find out what he did with over 600 Jews in Medina one day...the very people that had allowed him and his followers to live, following their exile from their home in Mecca. Find out how he lived his life, the many wives, the many wars, the quest for power.
Then come back here and enlighten us.
Historically, the USA has been a Christian country, in that is the religion of choice and tradition for the majority of our citizens. We have a secular government, that by necessity does not always follow Christian values and virtues. We recognize the contradictions, as have all in the last 2000 years. But as we fail to turn the other cheek, we also survive as that is the way of life. We fall short of the ideal, but we still know what the ideal is.
I hope this helps.

Re: Educated by Christians
r3020;
We could go back and forth on this but just let me ask you how many US citizens were in favour of going into Afghanistan and Iraq and killing hundreds of thousands of innocent Muslims.

Re: Educated by Christians
Red; i am not going to start reading people`s holy books.
I leave that to those of you who believe.
But if you think your book does not have lots of instances of brutality and advice to be brutal then you have not read your own bible very well.
If you insist I will find the links to point you to the passages but it is not something I memorize and no time to look them up this am.
Just believe me when I say religion, all religions, have some very brutal people who do not care for other humans believing in them especially at different times in history.
Do not point your finger at any one religion, point your finge at the fanatics who have so little faith they think they have to prove their god is great.

If that had been the case in the past I am sure we would have a much more peaceful earth.
I think if you're honest, you'd compare the 65 year period after 1945 when the USA was dumb enough to become police man to the world, with the prior 65 year period and conclude the USA has done a DcAbMvNs fine job.
So what are you Canadian's going to do when Russia starts drilling for oil on terrritory you claim?

Add in Afghanistan and it is hundreds of thousands.
If you have the stomach for it watch your brave armed forces take out a Mosque. How many new terrorists did this create?

Questions surrounding the possible Canadian militarization of the land were shrugged off by Cannon who insists Canada is strictly looking to “assert sovereignty” over the area.

65 years after WWII includes Vietnam. Want me to look up some more? Panama maybe?
If you were the world's policeman you would have been appointed by someone, at least someone other than yourself.
Self appointment = bully
Will have to await the future to find out what happens in the Arctic but I am sure we are not going to attack Russia or some other country.
